Try the beautiful and target-rich Tchefuncte River, got a rudimentary launch at end of 3 Rivers Road or there is another much nicer launch near St.Paul's High School in Covington. There are tons of sac a lait all over that river and target some of the dead end canals, using shiners for bait would certainly up the odds.Lotta folks use fancy electronics to locate drop-offs and brush piles and that certainly ups the odds.I used to use nothing fancier than a Chapman pirogue, targeted dead end canals and used Spoiler Shad soft plastics under slip corks so I could adjust the depth.Good luck and there is a gas station on Hwy 22 that sells live shiners!

You might try out of Des Allemands, end of Bayou Gauche Road, or on Hwy 3127 @ 3160 Hahnville or on Hwy 3127 in Edgard Both go to Lake Des Allemands. Look at Google Maps and make a plan.

Bar pits off Hwy 11, beautiful area to fish, have caught Sac-A-Lait in both pits. I like to troll for them with beetle spins, color in black yellow, or white, and also use Flea-Fly blue body red head.\r\n\r\nPits are 30 plus feet deep, I try to troll the drop offs , (along the shore & in middle of pits) with trolling motor, but me best action comes when the wind pushes me along the drop off, and use the trolling motor to keep me on it.\r\n\r\nI use 2-3 poles at a time, all at different depths, once me locate them try to keep all at same depth.\r\n\r\nDepth finder a must.\r\n\r\nOne of my best and strangest catch is a 22 # plus Redwarrior, it was a heel of a fight, but we managed to catch and release him back for others to enjoy.\r\n\r\nArea is a wildlife managed area, motor HP no larger ten 25 HP, great area to fish and lots of wildlife and scenery to see.
