Wiz,The Chapman had plenty water in her and I failed to drain the water out but she is fine and this am had about one inch thick of an ice covering just bout entire pirogue.Wifey and I just got back from neat little Sportsman's Show at Slidell NShore Harbor Center and we enjoyed watching results of round#1 of Elite Redfish Series and seems like just about every participant fished the Biloxi Marsh,an area that gets POUNDED by numerous guides.Got plenty of spots for folks to try with probably NO ONE else fishing!!!Oh well, let the pros do their thing and the NON-pros will do their thing!!

Well,Got home from helping a few Abita KC buddies frame up pump shed for one of our beloved Deacons and had to search Internet for results of Elite Redfish Series tourney and looks like a local team took de first place plus largest redfish, think they pocketed nice payday, congrats to them!!Probably won't be seeking any fish soon, though local T-Funky should be getting prime and giving up few thick sac a lait.Biggest I have caught in few years of targeting them is shade over 2.5 lbs!!!Got some in there WAY bigger than dat,no doubt!!

Blue Shamu,Yes, they are mighty fine and I have probably one of the very first pirogues Ron Chapman built and STILL plenty usable. I replaced the cypress gunwales with pressure treated custom-routed gunwales, twice and Steve Geraci, who now runs Chapman Pirogue company was impressed with how well I replaced their Achilles heel. The new synthetic gunwales are very durable and the Chapman I typically use was owned by a dear friend who passed away about 6 years ago and I bought it from his daughter. I fixed the gunwales on it with cypress and that only lasted few seasons. Got in touch with Steve Geraci and he got set of synthetic gunwales and showed me how to install em was easy.
