If you can find some pogie meal, that is the best thing I have tried. You can mix it with corn meal and make some dough balls then chunch a few in the water every hour or so.

Where can you get "pogie meal"?

Honestly, an old man fishing next to me gave me some when he was packing up to leave. I was not picking up much in the cast net but after he threw some of that stuff out, I started picking up some big shrimp and lots of other fish/crabs, etc. That stuff seemed to draw everything in the marsh! I never have bought any myself, but I believe it is sold as meal from feed stores to supplement cattle/swine feed. I may be wrong on that, but check a feed store or the pogie plants. I am sure they can sell you some or tell you who the distributors are.

Just go to the store and by the dog food that comes in cans. Poke a bunch of holes in the can and toss it out. Give it a few minute soak and then make a throw. Collect all the shrimp and then let it soak again before your next throw. Multiple cans and a few different spots and you will make quick work of the shrimp if they are there.

make sure you tie a string on the can so you can retrieve it once you are done. Don't wanna litter.

pogie meal. Rabbit food also works pretty good

The thrownet can be used to retreive the can. Just toss it right back in after making a throw.

You want the Topps pelleted dog food. Its not a puffed kibbble like most dog food. It looks like giant rabbit food. You can also use rabbit food you just have to use more of it since it dissolves faster. The old lady at Slidell Feed and Seed on corner of Front street and Pennsylvania Ave. always has it in stock.
