Long Haul
If you are talking about launching out of Cypremort Point, it is about a 16 mile run just to get through SW Pass. From there, you need to go at least 40 miles to get into any decent water with any depth. The ocean floor does not drop very quickly in this area, so you have some distance to travel to find any good fishing water. If you care to travel, it would be a better option to go out of Cameron, Freshwater City, or Fourchon. Fourchon will be the longest drive by road, but the shortest run to good water for snapper, about 15 miles. Cameron is a long run too. I prefer to go out of Fourchon/grand isle and put most of my miles on the highway rather than the sea. Typically, the results are better there as well. Good luck.

thank
thanks for the info fellas it dont look like we will be headed thatway after all. 40 miles out is a long way out especially in a single engine boat. i think we will go to grand isle area instead.
