In the "Bay" I think not .......... Looks like 500 fish
Yeah, I guess I had my bifocals upside down, after a fast recount there is close to 45 per row. Sorry for the ole eyes.

More like 250 fish , But if they came out of V bay they were from a gill net.
Reply
I bet they came from Tiger Shoal.

Just goes to show the inaptitude of some of the so-called sportsmen out amoung us these days! What a waste of fish! Yea, some look like they have been kept in an ice chest for a day or two, but just how many of you were fishing this weekend? And why didn't you clean your catch after each day's fishing?

And some of you people want to bash guides! Mercy!
Reply
If y'all want me too I can ice down my catch for two or three days and make a picture way better than this! But anyway nice catch fisherkjh.

Go Fish,
I don't see how looking at fish makes someone sick.
And like ive said b4 WHO are u to say what is enough trout for me or anyone else.
If they had 5 folks fishing together then that was not a 2 day limit for anywhere besides the west side.
alot of times i'll keep my fish on ice and clean once as long as im not over the possession limit.
There is no evidence that trout are being overfished in
louisiana and i BEG for you to prove it!!!
i dont know where you fish but i'm catching just as many and BIGGER trout as i ever have and ive been fishing the same general area for 30 yrs.
I dont have any problems catching trout ???
bob
All i ask for is scientific evidence that we are overfishing our trout stocks ??

Guys, whats the deal, I never comment on this site but I sit and read post w/ other guys bashing people all the time because they "caught there limt" for a few straight days or what ever. No laws broken,do you know how many people do this but just dont post. Let me tell you I live in Houma now but am from the Lafayette area. I am now getting spoiled around here and i know you dont see fish like that come out of VBay too often so my hats off to you.
So instead of bashing how about a compliment for a job well done, we are all sportsman here so practice catch and release on bass, trout taste too good. Sounds like jealousy too me...

There are 300 fish on the ground but since you two know everything we can call it 250. We were strictly by the rules and we had two boats, do the math. I put these pictures for every ones pleasure if you have a problem with it keep it to yourself. If you need pointers all you have to do is ask or other wise shut up.

Been fishing for over 60years and I can remember the good old days well for me the good old days are now. I catch more fish now then ever before. Cop Cop Smith and I fished many days and let me tell you it is better now. I can remember when the Hopedale area all but shut down in the winter and there was a time when you could not catch a trout in Lake P. for over 5years. If a north wind blew you could not fish out of Camp's which was on the south side of Lake B. So please don't give me the good old days. Look's like these guys had a great time. If they do this a few more times they will find out that it is too much like work. Taking pictures and putting fish on boards can be a job. I catch them now and clean them and then go take a shower and nap no pictures. Taking this picture was work but I bet it was fun for a short time.

i agree that the pic is distasteful and hoggish. why post a pic of that many, take the large ones out and take a pic of that. what are you trying to prove? that your somekinda macho fisherman? disgusting.

To those bashing these guys, get over youselves and YOUR feelings. Deermeat look at your site i.d.-deermeat you don't think that every anti group member out there probably FEELS that your very site id OFFENSIVE and in their view shouldn't be allowed. Your site id is deermeat and your bashing others about this, you don't see the irony here? Nice, I just cant' get enough of the hypocritcal ignorance on this site, this is laughable, and after the driveby post where you state YOUR FEELINGS on the subject while trying to belittle someone else for having a good trip and having the audacity to post a pic of their efforts. Hey deermeat ever heard of shoot and recessiate, this is sophistry, utter foley. Listen to yourselfs. Hey e-man or go fish ever heard of eating what you catch or kill, by God (oh uh someone is going to call the trial pimps at the ACLU)man your outdoorsman your men your hunter gathers, its not a dirty word. Celebrate it, revel in it be thankful for it. Stop letting the touchy/feelys of the world run your life. I'll bet everyone one of those fillets is eaten, not only that but I know numerous people who live in Lafayette and fish that bay and routinely take limits out of it, about three of these guys fish 3/4 days a week with at least one other person every trip and they limit nearly every time and shhhh, don't tell anyone they keep the fish, oh my God (opps I said it again) they also actually eat the fish. I've got to go this all of the confrontation is starting to distress my delicate sensativities, I've got to go and light some candles brew some tea and listen to my relaxtion tapes of meditarian booluga whales.

I weep for the future, by the way AWESOME picture I'm not offended I'm proud of each and every angler that participated in that trip. Glad to see some people in this day and age of FEEL GOOD EMOITION based game/fish management, instant gratification, grocery store/taco bell, throw away mentality. That some individuals had the intestinal fortitude and mindset to go out on their own in God's creation (yes that makes three references, I know someone is going to turn me in, because they FEEL it is inappropriate, forget the 1st amendmant) and caught their own fish and are going to clean them, cook them and eat them. AWESOME, simply AWESOME.

Congrats on being self sustaining contributing members of society our world without question would be a better place with more people like the ones who caught these fish.

whats your problem mud bug? Venice guides shouldnt even be mentioned in this post. And let me tell you buddy, we have MORE business down here than we have guides. Why? Because we have the most consistent year fishing ANYWHERE. And to those who dont lke the photo.....dont look at it. If I have a couple boats out I am not supposed to take a picture of the total catch? Give the guy a break. Some of you are turning into trout huggers. You feel good about yourself because your taking a stand. A stand for what? No broken laws and well within the realm of acceptability by BIOLOGICAL standards. You guys are letting yourselves be influenced by the out staters who write and dont have a clue about the lousiana fisheries. I'm all for conservatism, but not just for the sake of conservatism. Let the biologist decide what the fisheries can handle.

I'd hate to have to clean all those, but the trout meuniere that my wife makes would make it worthwhile. Mmmmmm. Nice catch KJH. How about a description of lures used?

Right on Capt. B!

And to further Capt. B just a bit - "Let the biologist decide what the fisheries can handle," not what your fishing skills or that warm fuzzy gut feeling dictates. Oh my!

Nice catch. If you were illegal, thats one thing, but when you have a legal limit of fish, brag on. People who don't know where or how to fish are the ones doing the bashing. I for one catch more trout today than I did 20 years ago.
Reply
Some of you are crazy as pointed out below. The numbers are legal, where's the problem? Fact is it's summer and in most areas along our bountiful coast, the speck bite is ON. take ANY day of the week down in Hopedale (or Venice) and line up the catches from a few charter captains (or recreational guys) and you'll see this kind of scene all day long, legally, morally, "tastefully", etc. with nothing "sickening" about it. Congrats on the catch and thanks for sharing the pic!

I say stick to the old saying that if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all! Great catch out at the point! You rarely hear of catches like that there, so CONGRATS! I'm taking my 3 girls out there this weekend. With luck like that they'd be hooked for life!

I was on this particular fishing trip and had a blast, so did my wife. We had a little girl 10 months ago and this was our first fishing trip since our child was born. Our freezer was empty so we filled it up. For those of you who get offended by 300 trout in one picture you might want to close your eyes for a while as more distgusting pics are sure to follow.

The difference between myself and a guide is that they do it everyday, so it is no big deal. When I happen to get on a great fishing trip I want to share my success with others. Can't wait to do it again.

id like to comment on the report itself...i always post my fishing trips over at "rodnreel" and i fish the point 2 times a week during the summer.....i went fishing out of the point wednesday before last and on father's day last sunday.......wed. was a great trip but since that wed. the winds shifted out of the east and the water got pretty dirty for sunday and no one including me, had a shot of accumulating specks.....now most every trip i make...the bay area has always been very dirty.......you always have to travel offshore to tiger shoal or head to the reefs outside the pass where you can find cleaner water which has been the case at diamond reef....BUT for this trip and the amount of fish caught in vermillion bay.....ill go out on a limb here call somebody a str8 bold face liar...i mean the "picture is the picture" but my goal here is not to see 200 boats wasting fuel and groceries out there looking for trout in the bay when there arent any....because there isnt any in vermillion bay at this point yet.......i know this area and what the water is like on a steady basis......im not trying to sound hard but i am being fair here......with that amount of fish it surely wasnt caught at the reefs...althought the fish have been plentyful when the winds are right there are too many boats fishing the reefs to catch that much on your own......this "post" had to have fished a rig offshore at night or during a weekday when the trout were screaming off the scale.....just my 2 cents......

Fished the near shore platforms out of VB a week ago and caught that many or more but 75 was the limit so we just staightened the barb and shook em off at the boat. What a blast. I have never been on a bite like that that lasted over 3 hours. I never fish in the bay so I can't speak for catching that many inside but it is definately a possibility offshore.

Copenhagen,
I think you need to go back and reread my post.
In my 1st post i said i didnt believe that these fish came from v. bay .
In my second post i responded to go fish post about the pics of that many fish making him/her sick and defended the rights of whomever caught those trout to keep them and take pics of them.
I Don't care what anyone thinks or feels or gets warm and fuzzy about. If anyone can present SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FROM LOUISIANA , Not tex or fla. That we as fishermen are hurting the trout population ,Then i will be the first to say we need a reduction in the limits.
Untill then If anyony thinks we can stockpile trout then
go catch and release till your arms fall off.
But me i'm gonna keep catching my limit and cleaning my limit and eating my limit whenever i can .
( which is usually about every 60 days)
Good Fishing, Good catching, Good eating, Bob

Great catch! I always keep my limit, when I catch one, and love most pictures and posts. This picture is just over the top. Looks like a morgue shot or something. Pictures like this just give the PETA types something to print, without explanation, and gain support. I hate political correctness, but would not think of tying a deer across the hood and driving all over town like we used to do. Good pictures show excited anglers, etc.
I support your right to catch and keep legal limits, and post your results. Just think we can be more tasteful.

Just for the record, I really dont have anything against keeping trout limits. I eat the crap out of trout, deer and anything else i could get my hands on. I was under the impression that these pics were brags of catching over the limit all in one day. But i still believe the limit needs to be lowered. i hate to say that because i fish every weekend. But come on guys, if you can honestly say your cathing more trout than earlier times than lets put it to a vote. Im no sientest, but its plain to see that more and more people are getting into fishing. and thats great because its a fun sport and keeps kids out of trouble. But the fish population can provide for the local area, and more and more people from other areas are coming to to fish our area. Its got to hurt the fish population. But its great for the econamy. Just want to here from others. who is catching more fish than when they were younger. Anyway smaller limits for guides mean getting home early.

Here we go with the touchy feely i think we need to lower the limits .
You get to fish every weekend so keep what you think your limit should be and leave those of us that get to fish once a month or LESS alone.
I don't know how folks can't understand that we CAN NOT stockpile trout.
If they dont get caught they die ,The habitat will only support X ammount of trout . as we loose marsh we loose trout. If everyone stopped keeping any trout tommorrow it really wouldn't matter. once you reach capacity Thats it.

WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT COASTAL ERROSION AND THE LOSS OF OUR MARSHES B4 WE EVEN THINK ABOUT LIMITS!!!

For all of you bashers, can you honestly say if you get into a group of fish like these ppl and you have the appropriate amount of fisherman that you won't keep yall limits? Come on fellas they have so many trout out their and yall are bashing on these fellaz for catch 250. For the amount of gas and money for baits, I guarentee I wouldn't come home without my limit. I have nothing but praises for something like this, maybe yall should show some respect and quit being jellous!

I dont see how some viewers see this post distasteful and not any others on this site. There are tons of posts with piles of fish, icechests full of fish, or ducks and geese lined up in the same manner. If there were enough fishermen to catch this limit and they get eaten then whats the big deal, it is no different than showing a pic of 2 guys with 50 trout. If fisherkjh is like me he'll eat his share and help out some friends who love to eat trout too so dont assume that they'll go to waste. How many of you would post this pic proudly had you been on the trip, I think the negative posts are just jealousy. I wish you would have posted a little info with the pic, nothing like your exact place just info like artificial or live bait, time of trip etc. We hit some rigs out of the pass Sat morning and ripped em. We had our 4 man limit of 100 in about two hours from 7 to 9 in the morning in one spot. There were 7 other boats at the rig and they were all catching good. We were catching them on chartreuse chubs just about any way you wanted to work them. There were tons of boats out and the water looked alright in the bay. If yall hit em again like this post it again because there are plenty of us who are glad to see this.
