Beretta Extrema 2

Reply
Alright. I have nothing against Browning or any other gun Mfg. But i have a buddy who has this Beretta Extrema 2 and it is awesome. He has it without the kick off system and for an additional $400 i can deal with out it. My wife is getting me one for a gift and i was just wondering if anyone has any good/bad things to say about it. I am getting it in Max 4HD 3½". Not a bad Anniversery Gift. Well actually she said it is Anniversery, Birthday, and Christmas. But i dont care atleast i get rid of shooting my cheap pump.

Any Beretta AL391 for $400 is a great deal, especially the 3 1/2" Xtrema for that price. The 3" walnut sells for $1k , the synthetic's go for $850 at Academy and the 3.5" go well over a grand.

Guys, from my take on the post I think he's justifying "dealing with out" the KickOff system due to it's $400 cost. I may be wrong. I don't recall it being that much of an upgrade, but yes the gun without the KickOff is roughly $1200 in camo, $1100 in black synthetic.

To answer your question though, Yes it is an awesome gun, end of story. If it fits you, you'll love it. I am tall with long arms and mine fits me like a glove, an incredible duck gun. Just don't expect to buy one for $400 if my assumption above was wrong.

Guys I think when Labs says $400.00, he is speaking of the price difference between having "kick-off" or not having it. You won't find an xtrema new for 400.00 unless it's stolen or something.

Yeah the kickoff system is an additional $400 pretty much everywhere. I changed the way i worded it above. Sorry

Anyone had any problems with there's?

You can not go wrong with a Beretta.

I have a Browning Gold and have had no problems with it. Like with any Gas Operated Auto it needs to be cleaned. Two of my buddies have had the new Benelli SBE II pealing problems. My cousin has and Extrema and he likes it.

I have a beretta xtrema2 myself i bought about 1 month ago in max4 and i love it. in one month i have put about 3 cases of shells through it and not 1 flaw. I been teal hunting with it and dove hunted with it. I shoot low brass for doves and the biggest 3 1/2 you can find and not 1 problem. Its a good investment.

I have a Browning Gold. I just had it camo dipped Mossy Oak Breakup, it's awesome. I never have problems or breakdowns with the Gold but....You have to clean it.

The Beretta Extrema is the same way..you have to clean it. I have shot the Extrema II and it is a fine gun. I am not very tall and the gun doesn't fit me well. The Extrema II has a larger frame than most guns and tends to go well with long arms.

The only thing that I don't like about the Extrema is the rubber embedded into the grip and the forearm of the gun. I have been with friends in the field that have sprayed OFF or Repel on their hands and it melts the rubber grip and makes it sticky to the touch...yuck! Be careful with all repelant and guns especially the Extrema II.

No, it does not have a reputation of jamming like some other guns mentioned. Sure you have to clean it but not as meticulously or often as many other guns since it has a LOT of tolerance. When you do clean it, it is very very simple, no tools needed. Mine had marsh grass inside the action with mud and still cycled all day long till I found it in there when I cleaned it! Just go for it, you won't be disappointed I promise.

Where did you get your Browning dipped? Cost? Can you post a picture? I have a 3 1/2 Gold Hunter that I would like to have dipped. Do they have a website?

Lab - I don't have the Xtrema but the only difference over the AL391 Optima is the fact that it shoots 3.5". Other than that, the guns are the same and are very nice. I also have the Browning Gold and Benelli SBE..... You can't miss with any of the above!

My dad and I had black SBE's done several years ago in Realtree Hardwoods camo for timber hunting. It was done by "Second Skin Camo". Yahoo search them or Jim Crumley's Treebark Camo. The cost was $200 for the complete gun. We have both been very satisfied with it.

Need2BFord, you will love that new Barretta. I have one with the kick-off system and I definitely prefer it to my SBE. I carry the SBE only as a backup gun now.

Capt, Do you really have the Benelli SBE as a back up. I have a few buddies that said i was crazy for not getting the benelli. But i personally just prefer the Beretta over benelli. But i guess i will see, the gun should be in the middle of next week.

SBE as a backup to an Xtrema2, that's awesome. I'd do the same thing! Depending on who you ask though, either of those guns could back up the other, just depends on personal preference since both are tops when it comes to duck guns. You will not be sorry you didn't listen to your "buddies."

BayStealth:

I got it done at "Jim Crumley's Camo Enterprises" Second Skin Camo. Jim Crumley is the inventor of the old treebark camo pattern. I shipped it off to them from Custom Gun Works in Lafayette. Tony and Darrel assured me that this company did a good job and they were right. I could not tell it apart from the factory Brownings on the shelf when I went to pick it up!

The cost was $240 plus tax and I decided on the New Mossy Oak Breakup because I wanted a darker pattern. I don't care for the light tan patterns that Beretta and Benelli have on their factory guns.

The whole process took about six weeks and the company answered all of my questions and concerns via e-mail. I definitely recommend them. Here is the website:

I'll try to post a picture if I get a chance.

Yes, L-C, I do have both guns and prefer to shoot the Beretta over the back-up Benelli. Here's the real deal FYI. If I were to go hunting where I will be in a blind, I take both guns and shoot the Beretta with an improved cylinder choke with #5 steel in 3". I keep the Bennelli in the corner of the blind within reach loaded with 3.5" BBB heavy shot in case a flock of geese fly over. I have a double gun case and carry both guns in the boat when we wade hunt up in Arkansas in case I drop the Beretta in the water and mud or it hangs on a crappy or wet load.

Believe it or not: I used to hunt geese over in Texas and shot 2 Remington 1100s, one in each hand!! Have pictures somewhere, but that was way back then, too! That's where I got the subname, PALADIN!

I have a pretty good double gun case 2 made my Browning i think. I actually had my dove gun (my old mans gun) Remington 1100 model go out on me in the field for dove season and i told myself this will never happen again. I had to sit and watch everyone shoot doves. I will bring 2 guns any and everytime i can from now on.

dude that gun is amazing. I bought on last year and i cant begin to describe how much i love it. its very durable in harsh conditions. I cant make the thing get a spot of rust on it and i dont clean it very often either. If you want a guy I buy my guns from to order it gimme a hollar. He sells me my guns barely over cost I heard he only makes like 30 bucks. he sold my friend one of these with the k/o a few weeks ago and he got it for $1440 for everything. now I dont know exactly what cost is but considering thats almost a 1600 dollar gun before taxes that aint a bad deal. seriously if your gonna order that gun you should talk to that friend of mine. He'll get it to you cheaper than any store by a long shot. Its no kind of gimmic or nothing like that. I work with him at the Fire Department in Baton Rouge and he just sells guns on the side. he can usually get it within a few days. but if you wait too long you aint gonna be able to find an X2. I waited over a month last year b/c I ordered it in november. He called like 5 suppliers and none of them could get it. I even called the beretta outlet store in houston and they couldnt get them. so I wouldnt wait too long. but he will save you I would say at a minimum of 200. like I said before that gun at any store is 1600 before taxes. he sold me mine at 1440 all said and done

Got one last season and I love it. Although after some heavy constant shooting of geese it started to jam on the 3 1/2 shells. Regular size shells there has never been a problem. I think it was about a steady 25 minutes of as fast as you can load and shoot that it started hanging the first shot up. Action wasn't really all that dirty...thought maybe it had to do with the heat not allowing the action to travel all the way back. Can't see any reason for the K/O version. The gun shoots sweet with little to no barrel lift.
