'The Wreck” in Breton Sound, believe is located at or about 29° 33.633’ N. Lat. ~ 89° 28.507’ W. long. It is about 8.5 miles at a bearing of 142° magnetic from the mouth of Bayou Terre Boeufs at Black Bay.
Use caution in the area. I have heard that the old rig is to be dismantled. Last time I saw it, it was dangerous to approach close in rough water, and was only a few feet above the water.
Another site in the general area is the BLACK TANKS.
The BLACK TANKS (last time I was there only one tank was visible) is located in the Breton Sound at about 29° 30.916’ N. lat ~ 89° 24.343’ W. Long.
It may also interest you to know that a large concrete separator rig called “THE BUBBLE RIG” was just a few hundred yards NW of the BLACK TANKS. The rig has been moved but I have been told that the shell-aggregate base pad is still there. It seems that the shell base pad footings are an attractant to some species of fish in the area. Fish the area along the bottom. The BUBBLE RIG was at or about 29° 31.089’ N. Lat ~ 89° 24.378’ W. Long.
These sites as well as over one hundred more are included in my new CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE of GPS WAYPOINTS for Delacroix to Point a la Hache.
I call the Programs, CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE,” because I believe that they will give the fisher an advantage in getting to, finding fishing spots, moving around, and getting back from some of the more favorite fishing areas in the state.
The “CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE” is a very unique ELECTRONIC program that can be downloaded directly into various GPS units from their manufacturer’s Mapping program or via several of Maptech’s mapping software programs. This technology saves countless hours of having to manually enter each separate waypoint value into the GPS receiver.
The entire procedure of loading over 150 odd waypoints from a CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE file takes less than three minutes from the time you view the email file to the time that they are loaded in the GPS receiver.
Presently I have NINE Captain Paul’s Fishing Edge Files. They are; Barataria Bay, Lake Borgne, Hopedale to the Miss Sound, Hopedale to Bayou Terre Boeufs, Delacroix to Point a la Hache, Bayou Bienvenue, Port Sulphur, Calcasieu Lake and the Pearl River WMA.
To download The CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE program(s) in your GPS, you MUST have FIVE items.
FIRST, a GPS Receiver; SECOND, that manufacturers Mapping Program or its Waypoint Manager software; THIRD, a computer with a connecting cable to the GPS unit or data card; FOURTH, a valid E-Mail Address that accepts attachments, and FIFTH, a CAPTAIN PAUL’S FISHING EDGE FILE.
Separate Program Files are designed for GARMIN, MAGELLAN, LOWRANCE GPS receivers and their mapping programs as well as for MAPTECH TERRAIN NAVIGATOR. These Edge files are NOT interchangeable.
All of the CAPTAIN PAUL”S FISHING EDGE may be found in the LOUISIANA SPORTSMAN’S OUTDOOR STORE. The link button may be found in banner on the left side of the HOME PAGE or you may cut and paste
