Slow bow season start

Reply
If you told me what would happen the rest of the week, after my first bow hunt on Monday morning at the Delta, I would not have believed you! Monday morning I saw a total of six does (several were yearlings) and between my other three hunting buddies they saw eight more deer including two bucks. The only shots we had, were at yearlings or in two cases a mama doe with a spotted fawn. We passed on all of those and my buddy had a four point run off before he could get to full draw. That was the good, now the bad. After such a promising morning hunt, we were fired up and ready for that afternoon. Three of the four of us returned, I saw nothing, another buddy saw nothing and the other saw the same doe and fawn. Since then I have been back Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning and again this morning with two buddies. I have not seen another deer since Monday morning. Incredible!! One buddy did see a doe with two yearlings today. I have hunted four different stand locations on different islands---with no success. Together we have hunted seen different locations. Now today much of everything was flooded withe higher tides from the distubance but the other days that was not a factor. I will be back out there this weekend and all next week, I just hope I get a little more cooperation from the deer, as it is kind of hard to pattern what you do not see! But hey---that is hunting, right? Hope to give you guys a much better report soon...

I have hunted Mon, Tues, Wed mornings and Wed and Friday evenings and the deer have been scarce. I have seen 3 deer from the stand on all of those hunts. I killed a doe and missed a "Smasher" Wed evening. The shot was at dark and I hit a freaking limb! I am feeding corn and they are eating it as fast as I can put it out, just doing it at night.
