Would like to know the best way to restore and keep performance in a 2 stroke engine.Run seafoam every once in a while of decarb through the carberators once a year?
Thanks for the reply, but not exactly what I needed to know.If you are running your 2 stroke out of gas and haven't had any problems, you are very lucky. If you run it out of gas,you are also running it out of oil, think about that for a min.
umm just to inform you...running a 2 stroke out of gas doesnot hurt it a bit because the cylinder will be lubricated until engine runs out and also 2 strokes have no valves except a reed valve so no worrying there...every time i git done using my 2 stroke i run it out and runs perfect next time every time. keeping the gas/oil in the bowl fer a long time..gas will go bad quicker that way and can gum up yer jets etc..
I do the samething, run the fuel out the carbs.. been doing it for ever without any problems.. some call it as a part of winterizing your motor.. but i dont let my motor sit for months, i will fire it up and let it run for 10 or so miniutes at least 3 times in a month..
I try my best to do my fair share of fishing during the winter months but if I am not able to get out then I will crank up the motor about every three weeks and let it run on the ears for a little while. I personally find that it will carbon up the plugs after letting it idle for a bit. I have a spark plug blaster that connects up to my air compressor and it works wonders on my plugs. I am running a 2003 Suzuki DT150 EFI. I put Stabil in my tank during the winter months because I don't use the boat as much as during the summer months. Should I use seafoam or any other preventative measures to extend the life of my motor and to maintain smooth operation year round?
