This is my daughter Destini and her first redfish. She caught this on a lightning mcqueen (2'-0" KIDS RIG) fishing pole in the avery canal. Just check out that smile! .Take kids fishing and get them started on a great pastime and keep them out of trouble. If you don't have kids then take someone elses.Keep the tradition alive in louisiana. Second pic is of all of my kids kali, destini and landen.....no keeper reds for the other two yet but they have caught plenty of other species.Be safe and good fishing.No_Red_Spec.I WILL WAIT UNTIL SOME OF YOU GUYS AND GIRLS LEAVE THEM A INCOURAGING MESSAGE THAN I WILL PRINT THIS OUT FOR THEM. THEY WILL BE SO PROUD TO SEE WHAT YOU ALL WRITE ABOUT THEM THANKS IN ADVANCE No_Red_Spec

I'd rather see those pics, than the ones of the 5+ lb trouts, to me, you have it right! I got a fantastic pic of my little one with his first fish recently too.

What a great hobbie to get them started on at a young age.

KUDOS to YOU NO_RED_SPEC!

Way to go girl!!! You are an encouragement to all little girls in South Louisiana. My little girl has caught bream and sacalait but no keeper redfish yet. You can bet I show her your picture when she gets home from school. She will be ready to go for sure. Keep up the good fishing and never lose that beautiful smile!!

Congratulation on your first Redfish. I hope that you are hooked for life. Some of the best times that you'll remember when you're older are happening right now ! My little girl loves to go fishing and hunting with me. Make sure that you give your dad a big kiss and tell him thank you for bringing you fishing, and I'm sure that you'll never miss another trip.
Congrats and happy fishing to you.

Dear Destini:

I was just about your age when I started fishing with my daddy down in Destin, Florida. We would go out and I would catch big sting rays, croakers, pinfish and speckled trout on my little Zebco rod and reel.

Throughout the years, I kept on fishing and catching bigger and bigger fish. Later I got interested in tournaments, and did pretty good catching big sailfish on light tackle and winning tournaments and even won a number of World Records.

A few years ago, I turned my love of fishing into a business, and began to write stories about fishing in Louisiana Sportsman Magazine. I also go to boat shows and talk about fishing to other kids like yourself, so I would love to meet you and take a picture with you if you are at the New Orleans Boat Show in 2008.

So Destini, I am proud of you for catching your first keeper redfish and also that you are wearing your life jacket. I wear mine when I am in the boat too.

Now I have a favor to ask of you....make sure that you teach your brother and sister to fish as good as you and also keep in mind you do not have to keep all the fish you catch. Take a photo, give the fish a hug and kiss and let it go to make more baby fish for years to come, especially if you catch a really big bull redfish.

It is up to "us girls" to help conserve fish so that they will continue to be fun for us to catch for many years to come!

WAY TO GO DESTINI!!!!

Love & tight lines,
Ms. Susan Gros
