Big Ducks are here!!!

Reply
Man I tell you what me and my cousins tore the birds up yesterday morning! They have what looked like thousands of big birds just sitting on the water in spanish lake like rafts. A bunch of them came within range and we kept Quacken em and Stacken em! It was so cold that they had to get a running start on the water just to fly off! We ended with 3 short of our limit but its nice to finally see the big birds here!

All I see is a bunch of coots? Yea they do like to run on the water before flying!

Im guessing you meant to type an "n" instead of a "t". No man your computer must not work to well those are ducks in the picture not coons.

I'm sorry but those are not ducks, they are all pooldoo, coots, water chickens, what ever you want to call them. But they are waterfowl, just not DUCKS!

Hey KWeatherford, if those aren't coots (coons?) what kind of "big ducks" are they.

Look man Im no trying to dog ya, but there is no way those are teal. Coots fly across the top of the water when taking off and that is what u were seeing. I don't know how long u or your cousins have been duck hunting but the way our limits work u really need to learn how to ID a duck when it's flying let alone when it's dead. Check out the Ducks Unlimited web site, they have a Duck ID galley that could really help.

Who said anything about coons? We're callin it like we see it, and someone got into the coots real good but certainly not ducks, muchless "big ducks." You could have hunted the LSU lakes and killed 'em like that!

That is one of the funniest things I have seen or heard in a while? Is this post a joke? Not messing with you about shooting pooldoo but if you really think they are ducks and they "ran" across the water b/c it was cold, now that's funny.

big steve i think besides the author of the post we may be the only ones that get it,and that makes it even funnier

Super Duck, I hope this wasn't wasted on just us. Even if it was, it's good stuff.

We are planning to visit my family in Livingston Parish for Christmas. Is there any place close to duck hunt in the area?

We live in W. KY near Ballard County. Lots of waterfowl hunting up here, but would like to do some down home.

Kweatherford, you have to type a little slower around this crowd for them to get it.

I am with you kweatherford, that is a nice mess of big ducks. It is not the best picture but from what i can see you have a couple of buffleheads, king eiders, harlequin ducks (looks like all drakes too), white wing scoters, 2 coots and it looks like you might be hiding a tundra swan under all of the other ducks. Keep on quacken em and stacken em.

from the picture it looks like coots, is this correct? or are you just being facetious.......

OkOkOk its a joke. Thats my roommate and me and him did a hunt in spanish lake. We had some coot come close enough to pop so we busted a few. Well once we got home I layed them out and talked him into posing for a shot. Well it was all payback after he played a prank on me awhile back. Glad a few people got a good laugh out of it because I know me and my buddies did! Nice teal Kendal! hahahaha

I will keep this account though just incase he tries for some payback. lol

Next time have the camera man ZOOM in on those BLACK MALLARDS so we can see them better. I don't see any white on the wings so they gotta be BLACK MALLARDS. Nice Hunt!
Reply
coot i hate to disagree with you because you are the duck hunting man but they look like maybe a cross between a black duck and a mottle duck lol

    Coot
I am telling ya, THOSE ARE SOME MIGHTY FINE BLACK MALLARDS YOU SHOT THERE, BUT YOU MIGHT BE OVER YOUR LIMIT!
Reply
There isn't any white on the speculum, must be Black Mallards. You can't say that they are over the limit though, because you never know how many people were hunting.
