Rincon, this is what happens when you scout your butt off and then bring all of your friends with you. They help you make meat. Regardless of who killed deer everyone had fun that night. Pictured is peanuts doe (who was hunting in a spot that bam found scouting), tylers doe (who was hunting in a spot that lee found), and my 8 pt that i killed hunting in a spot that i found and would not let anyone else hunt because i am a selfish sob. These were all killed the day after thanksgiving. Also brought a young boy hunting the next day and he killed a 5 point that i let walk. (not on purpose, hate to tell the story). Oh and you see that guy jimmy in the picture behind me, he didnt kill anything at all this year, just thought yall might want to know that.

Only killed one doe and saw a couple of small bucks. We are shooting three on one side. Hopefully when the weather starts acting right and the rut kicks in things will get better. Weather is nice all week and come the weekend hot and mosquitos. Typical!

are u serious? in area 2 where i hunt you are allowed to kill one buck and one doe a day, and you can kill them in the same hunt. yet there is a rule that states that you can only have one dead deer in a vehicle at a time? what if you hunt over an hour away, it would be impossible and insane to do so? And ok, it may be the law.. and i respect that.. but seriously what in the world are sportsmen hurting by hauling more than one deer ina vehicle back to a campsite.. as for being decent... not wasting my gas driving back and forth is more decent on the "environment" so can you have three or four icechest with quartered up deer in it? same deal.. same deer both dead.. idk it jus seems queer

not to mention, to years ago me and a buddy of mine had three deer in the back of my truck, and we actually stopped and talked to a game warden for about 15 minutes, and he didnt say a word about it...

dude, i know several people that only get a chance to hunt a couple of times a year. and if they had the oppurtunity to kill a buck and a doe on the same sit, that would be so huge for them.. they would have plenty of meat for the year and then could be selective on what they want to shoot the next oppurtunties they get to go. my household goes through 4 deer a year, and if my oppurtunities to hunt were limited you could bet your sweet breeches i wouldnt take the oppurtunity for granted to take two deer in one hunt.. i agree people do take it for granted.. i know.... i am def. not one of those out law individuals, and i am certainly not defending the, but before you call out about someones morals and decency. look at their situation

This state does have great potential. Areas in our state differ so much it is amazing. I hunt in north louisiana, and there are areas where i hunt that there are so many does and small cull bucks that is a result of not enough doe/ cull buck management. And harvesting two deer in the same hunt wouldnt have any ill effect on that situation, ifanything it would be positive...

I dont know what the deer situation is like where yall hunt. Maybe it is hurting the POP of the deer by overharvesing. i dont know. But there are way more deer in some areas than people realize...

By the way that game warden was not a crook, i sat there and watched him ticket 2 guys at the camp for i cant remember what, does it make him a crook that he says to him self, ok these guys rode together... he is allowed to kill 2 deer.. the other guy killed one.. that makes 3 deer.. all legal kills.. im not gonna right them a ticket that is a dumb rule any way.. it would prolly ruin their day and give them a bad view of the LDWF

Heres the scenario, i agree and totally support people that say there is a shoot em all mentality in some places, leases, clubs, etc.. i was a part of one a few years ago and i got off very quickly...it ticked me off that people shot everything that walked... Having said that, i think that some rules are not logical and realistic. And im not one to argue, but when people start questioning someone's decency, it aggravates me... there is absolutly nothing indecent about having more than two deer in a vehicle, if all the kills were legal! I dont care what the law says it is jus a another law that binds the regular sportsman... another law to make money..i mean.. if your reading a post and u notice something like that... either a keep your mouth shut, or b discreetly tell them by e mail or somethin if it bothers u..

This evening, I will read through the LDWF pamphlet. I never saw anything in there that stated you can't have two deer in your vehicle. I am aware that in some areas, it is legal to kill one antlered deer and one antlerless deer in the same day. If I can't find it in bold print in the pamphlet and I choose to kill a doe and buck in the same day.......a wildlife agent is not ready for the whirlwind of chaos I would unleash on him for trying to give me a ticket for having two legally killed deer in one vehicle.

What I'm trying to tell you is that they KNOW it is NOT illegal to kill two deer in one day or have three deer in back of a truck. They are just arguing with you to have a little fun. Everyone knows it's not illegal to kill two deer in one day or have multiple deer in a ruck. They are just messing with you to get a rise out of you. That is the truly funny part. I have the LDWF rules and regulations booklet on my desk at work and I just read through it and no where did I read about this crazy rule. My buddy and his brother killed 4 opening day at Fort Polk and when they checked them out none of the wardens said anything to them, they went back the next day and killed 3. That is a rediculous made up rule, if it is in the booklet then what page is it on?

I pulled up the regs online and did a pdf search; I found nothing stating that you couldn't transport more than 1 deer in a vehicle at one time. I might have missed it, if I did let me know what page its on.

I'm all for management, but the only way it will work is if everyone involved participates. LDWF is in no way trying to manage the deer herd in our part of the state. They added an extra doe day to Pomme de Terre, Grassy Lake and Spring Bayou. Anyone who has every hunted these places knows that you will never be run over by a herd of deer. So why the extra doe day.

LDWF states that I can shoot a doe and a buck on certain WMA on either sex days. Why should I let a doe go after shooting a buck if #1 its legal, #2 the orange vest 50 yards from me will, if I don't.

I asked a game warden about the extra doe day and he advised that license sales were down and with less people hunting, LDWF were doing anything just to increase revenue.

I had a club the last 3 years and tried to manage the herd. All members were on board, but we had locals who snuck in during the week and shot our deer. We would return on the weekends and have to drive past deer carcasses enroute to our camping area.

It won't work unless LDWF and all hunters want it too.

Due you need to read the rules, you CAN kill 2 deer a day on priavet land. You can kill a doe and a buck at the same hunt. If your hunting WMAS it is only one deer a hunt. You can transport 50 deer if they are all tagged with the proper information. I have been stopped with 3 deer in my boat, all were tagged with who shot them and their info on them.

I said I would not get involved in this discussion but some of you on here have absolutely no idea of the law. Where in the law does it state that you can't have more than two deer in a vehicle, also how in the hell is it unethical to kill more than one deer in a hunt. First it is withing the law to kill more than one deer per day up to six in the state of Louisiana on private land, leased land and on some WMA's that state you can. Also you can have as many deer in a vehicle that it will hold as long as you have enough hunters to support the kill or they are all tagged properly. Also if I choose to kill a doe on that hunt and mr big walks out I will kill him and if a doe comes out I will kill her as intended. I have killed a buck and a doe on more than one occassion. I have very limited days to hunt so I will kill/harvest whatever is legal when it is legal. I am not greedy and will never break the law, but I will kill what I can when I can to feed my family. Funny you same people who are slamming this guy for having three deer don't say a dang thing about some people on here who kill 6 in Mississippi, 2 in another state 4 in another state and so forth, but you want to slam someone who gets lucky enough for everyone in his hunting party to kill a deer or two in one day, (legally). I personally don't care who kills what or how many, it is none of my business. I love to hunt, and the only entity who should say anything about the way I hunt is the lord up above and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and fisheries. BigJon, kill em all and let your party kill em all and put all of them in your truck, but tag them and the game warden won't give you a hard time. Trust me last year a buddy of mine and I both killed two in one morning, we tagged them and on the way out of the woods my president stopped me and was ill so he asked if we could skin his for him while he went to the hospital, I tagged the deer for him with his information and headed out with (5) deer with (2) hunters and were stopped by the game warden and he inspected all (5) deer and told us to go about our business. Why can't we just read everyone's posts and tell them nice deer, read their story and enjoy the time we have here on earth instead of trashing the size of their deer, the amount of deer, the type of gun they use, and so forth. I love seeing Eric, Widow, and everyone else's success here. I work 6 to 7 days a week and hunt very little but put in tons of time when I am able and I live my season through most of these guys and could care less if they harvest 100 deer a year as long as it is legal and you know what if it is ILLEGAL it is none of my business. Boy, this post is exciting! I have wasted so much study time that I figured that I did not have a choice but to Post, it seemed like everyone else had. Regardless of whether it is legal or not to have more than 3 deer in a truck, I am going to go out on a limb here and guess, since everyone else is guessing, and not citing any authority, that if there were such a rule that it would pertain to transporting deer on public roads or in a WMA. I have not seen anywhere in BIGJON's post that stated he was transporting the deer anywhere. Hell, from the picture that might not be a Toyota or Nissan truck but a Chinese mini-truck. Maybe the truck doesn't run, etc. When I take a break from studying, I'll look up the applicable statute on Westalaw and then "Give you the Law." (Not a guess, but what Louisiana has to say about it. I am in no way giving advice and take no responsibility for anyone using, following, citing, arguing, fighting, bickering, etc. etc in regards to anything I post.) By the way, BIGJON, shoot till you run out of ammo; just keep it w/in the limit.

LA. R.S. 56:125. Possession of game quadrapeds; tags; deer carcasses

A. A licensee may have in his personal possession anywhere during the open season the number of game quadrupeds permitted by this Subpart to be taken or possessed by him; but should he have in his personal possession at any time or anywhere more than the possession limit of such game quadrupeds, that fact is prima facie evidence of the violation of the provisions of this Subpart unless each such game quadruped in excess of the possession limit is tagged showing the species of game quadruped, the actual signature and license number of the licensee who took the same, and the date and place taken.

B. Positive evidence of sex identification, including the head, shall remain on any deer taken or killed within the state of Louisiana, or on all turkey taken or killed during any special gobbler season when killing of turkey hens is prohibited, so long as such deer or turkey is kept in camp or field, or is in route to the domicile of its possessor, or until such deer or turkey has been stored at the domicile of its possessor or divided at a cold storage facility and has thus become identifiable as food rather than as wild game. Deer and turkey may be divided in camp or field but, in the event of such division, each portion shall be identified by the name, address, and license number of the person killing it and the sex of the animal; however, it is not necessary to affix the license number as required above to portions cut from the carcass immediately prior to being consumed in camp.

No, its not that bad, I have hunted plenty earlier and I'll finish right when the big kids are gearing up to come out and play. Lunar chart is no good this week and when its 80 degrees out I'll pass; then again, if I wasn't studying I'd be out there. Oh yeah, if your thinking about going to law school, you can pretty much kiss everything else goodbye; especially if your as crazy or as determined as I am. Actually, its not so bad and I am fortunate enough to get a few 2-3 hour breaks to make some hunts. Only 13 more hours next semester and then I have a 1 week meeting with the B!t@h i.e. the (Bar Exam) in July. Have no fears, I have been polishing all my cage fighting maneuvers at the library for the last 2.5 years. Give me 3 months of reviewing outlines and she doesn't stand a chance. Confident you ask? No, its merely ignorance and the debt that I have amassed. Likewise, if you don't allow yourself to fail, you never will! P.S. Here is the information from LDWF website as to the number of deer that may be legally taken. Also, in tagging the deer on areas under DMAP, does are to be locked with the DMAP tag on the hock. I have not seen any information as to where any deer is to be tagged that is not on DMAP so I "guess" you could stick it anywhere. It appears from BIGJOHN's photos that such tags could be in the hock of the deer as they are not visible. Therefore, BIGJOHN, as I previously stated, shoot till you run out of ammo. Again, nothing I have stated shall constitute the unauthorized practice of law and I am in no way giving legal advice, etc.

Deer Hunting Regulations from LDWF Website

One antlered and one antlerless (when legal) deer per day EXCEPT on National Forest Lands and some Federal Refuges (check refuge regulations) where the daily limit shall be one deer per day.

POSSESSION TAGS
Any part of the deer or wild turkey divided shall have affixed thereto the name, date, address and big game license number of the person killing the deer or wild turkey and the sex of that animal. This information shall be legibly written in pen or pencil on any piece of paper or cardboard or any material which is attached or secured to or enclosing the part or parts. On lands enrolled in DMAP, deer management assistance tags must be attached and locked through the hock of the antlerless deer, (including those taken with bow, muzzleloader and those antlerless deer taken on either-sex days) in a manner that it cannot be removed, before the deer is moved from the site of the kill.
