State Land

I have a question about state land. I have just moved my floating camp down the bayou in Morgan City on some state land. There is some good deer hunting there. I have heard guys talking about baiting it. After reading some of the post, i'm under the impression that you cannot bait on state land or is it just WMA.

It's perfectly legal to bait on State Land, BUT just because you have an area baited, it doesn't give you the right to keep anyone else from hunting it!

from OSL
I work for OSL. I checked with the higher-ups, and as of now, there are no rules restricting baiting on State Land. Only restrictions on the use of permanent stands. But like I said, you CAN NOT keep anyone else from hunting over YOUR bait!

State Land
Be Careful where you tie that boat up...If you aren't leasing the land or have permission from the state, then they consider the camp a permanent structure, which is illegal to have on state land, and can confiscate it. Just a heads up. Might want to check it out...would hate to loose it.

You can tie your boat up in front of state land WITHOUT a lease as long as you ARE NOT USING THE BANK. Also, it can not be tied in one spot for an "extended period of time". I'd say for more than a month or so. If you've overstayed your welcome, they'll leave you a notice. Also, the restrictions about hunting state land are in the Revised statutes. RS 41:15.
