deer meet processor in Baton Rouge Area

Reply

Taking my son on his first deer hunt on some family property up near Vivian. Supposedly lots of deer in the area it was just cut over last year, has a creek down the side with the tree line along the creek still intact. Probably jinxing us, but can anyone recommend a deer meat processor in the Baton Rouge area that does good deer sausage, as well as makes nice roasts and good cuts of meat?

deer processing
Sportsman's One Stop located on Hwy 61 is one of the closest places i know of it's about 20 minutes from Baton Rouge and I get all of my deer processed there and they do a great job as well as have fair prices. The only other place I know of close to Baton Rouge would be across the river in Addis right before you get to Plaquemine, never had one processed there but I have heard they do a good job as well.

That place is high man. I would go to knot's which is now charlie's meats. I like the people there but they are high. Go to charlie's in zachary. I am sure they have places in baton rouge though.

Sausage
You can take it to Pap's Sausage company in Prairieville or Catoir's (use to be Roy's) on 42. I hear they do a good job. Personally, I drive to Lafayette and bring mine to M&S Grocery. They do the best in my opinion. They are a little higher than most but when you get your meat back, it's all vacuum sealed and ready to be put up.

Sausage
Oh, and so you know. I live in Prairieville and drive my deer meat to Lafayette. I think they are that good.

Everybody likes something different but this guy will make you fresh sausage, smoked sausage, stuff roasts for you, cut you steaks, make you some ground meat.

It's worth the drive.

Bergeron's in Port Allen on Hwy. 415 between I-10 & Rosedale Road (5-10 minutes from new Mississippi River bridge) and Benoit's in Addis on LA 1 (10 minutes from bridge) are not that far from B.R. Both are excellent.
