Game cams??

Reply
Hey guys I just got a game cam, it is a wildview extreme2. I set it up in the yard and got my dog to walk around in front of it and the thing won't take a picture. When I walk in front it takes it but not her. I have tried changing the height and the angle and it still doesn't pick her up. Also, it seems to take a while to snap the picture from the time I step into view. Does anyone have this cam and how does it work?
Thanks guys!!

I got the two pack for christmas. my first ones. i tinkered with it at the house for a while, but gave up and put it in the woods. besides having it too close to the rice bran pile and not enough down angle, it took 44 pics in the first day and a half, including one coon. Im satisfied with it so far, cant wait to see whats on it this weekend.

Good luck

I too were like you when I purchased my first camera. I now own several and take really good pics with them. Like said before it has alot to do with distance, angle, and height, but that is only important for the quality of the picture taken. The problem you are having is not really even a problem, these types of cameras are not made to catch fast actions. Your dog is running to fast in front the camera to trigger the sensor and you are walking a little fast and the sensor takes a while to trip. These cameras are made to catch deer at piles of feed or plots slowy moving or being still. Put the camrea 10-15 feet away from a pile of beans at about 4 feet off the ground with about a 3 inch around stick behind the "back top" of the camera for the perfect angle and be amazed by the pics you will get.

Good Luck

I was about to take them back to Cabela's. Since you guys say they work I put them out this morning, I can't wait to check them this weekend!!
I am not hunting over food, I have them set up on heavily used trails and that is why I am a little worried, the deer and hogs might just walk by and not even trip the sensor. Mainly after hogs and my dog is about that size so that is why I was worried. I put them at angles quartering the trails so they stay in the field of view longer.
Hope it works!!
Thanks again!!

You should not have a problem catching hogs walking if looking down the trail like you said for optimal coverage. For best results find out where these hogs are walking to, throw out some corn and set the camera there. Another thing with hogs, make sure you set the camera high enough in the tree where the hogs can not rub against the tree and possibly break the camera, believe it or not I had that happen to one of my camera. Out of all the tress they could rub on they pick the one with a camera on it.

good luck and post some of those pics you will have this weekend. I will post some of mine this weekend.

I had to mount the camera kinda low cause the place I hunt is super thick and the only place that had the right angle and a clear shot, didn't have a good tree to mount it to. I had to mount the thing on a mung bush. I am sure some big stinking hog is going to push it over and smash my new camera but I really didn't have a choice!
I'll post some pics if I get some!!
Thanks!
