NATCHEZ MONSTER BUCK

Reply
A friend,Paul Templet of Prairiville,La. killed this nice buck in Natchez,Ms.
Earlier in the season he let couple of six pointers and seven pointers go hoping for a larger buck.Well his luck paid off.
He was over looking a food plot when at about 5:00 a doe came walking in with this BIG BOY in tow. With one well placed shot at about 100 yards the buck droped in his tracks...

SCORE ME,

I will say he is a little better than 150 and go in the low 160's.

Lets see 19.5 inside, 5" G'1s, 12.5 G2's, 10 G3's and 26" main beams. That puts him at 126.5" before circumferences. Fine Deer!

The old Mississippi River produces some fine deer, doesnt it?

Score 162-incredible for a mainframe 8

Weight 237.5 with a full belly and a drink of water

Age-He had five candles on his last cake but you know how those old buck lie about their age!

Great buck with mass that only a 4.5 year olds and up normally carry. That and look at how his haunches are sucking up into the belly in the back and neck runs into body low on the chest.

Hey Paul, can yo give the readers like me more info on where and how you took such a fine animal? Are you in a club or ,are you a property owner?
Was this a canned hunt, high fence or fair chase? Some details would be nice.
Extra fine animal you got there buddy. Congrats.

sowtrout1,

Here are the details. Kill about 5:20 the afternoon of January 12. Hunting in a box stand on the edge of a food plot. The club is about 20mi notrth east of Natchez - no fence. Not chasing just following a doe. She came into the food plot as did he. One shot at about 100yds with a .270 droped him in his tracks. Thanks for asking.

I have been a student of the deer judging game for a while and have seen a lot of nice bucks to reference from. (Just kidding I'm not good just lucky). I am on a property that a 135 inch eight is the minimum kill other than cull bucks so I better have a pretty good idea of what I am shooting. i also hunt on some property that is a lot less intenively managed that provides the meat for the freezer. I was a little off on weight but he probably had not had dinner yet or that drink! I made the pizza crust deer loaf the other night and all I can say is mmmmm good. Thanks for the recipes.

Timberman, glad you liked it. It seems since I made that post I am having a harder time finding the pizza crust.
