Can u figure this out?

Alright, c if u guys can figure this out. Went hunting w/brother n law 2 weeks ago in Miss. He set me up along a creek jus off the hwy. I actually could see the ppl in their cars as they passed. He had caught several nice bucks on his cam from this spot. Right b4 dark a shooter buck came out running f/ the thicket, stopped 20' f/ my stand (to my left) I'm a left hand shooter...therefore I could not get a shot. He was acting really spooky. He ran another 25-30 yds f/ me looking directly away now. The opening he was in was only 15-20' wide. Figure this would be my only shot as he acted like he was heading for the hwy. I aimed for the back of his neck jus above his shoulder blades. My heart is pumpin a million miles an hr. I have the x-hairs on him and pull the trigger. Gun was on safety and i JERKED! Hurried and put the gun on fire and shot. I didn't see a reaction from the deer that he was hit. Thought I missed at 30 freakin yds. Found what seemed like a couple of hundred WHITE hairs at the point of impact & couple of pieces of meat - NO BLOOD (remember deer looking directly away from me when i shot) trailed the deer for 150 yds by finding 1 hair at a time NO BLOOD. At 150 yds found a ~12"X12" saturated spot of blood on the ground then 3 drops thereafter. Looked for 5 hrs and never found the deer? What happened? Why all the white hair?

With finding white hair and meat, it sounds like you hit low and got the brisket. He is probably ok and will be around next season...

probably just skinned to bottom of the chest, or brisket area. since there wasn't much blood, the deer should be fine.

Guys - THE DEER WAS LQQKING DIRECTLY AWAY. HIS TAIL IS FACING ME AND I SEE THE BACK OF HIS NECK. HOW COULD I HAVE HIT THE BRISKET FROM THIS ANGLE?

you shouldve rephrased that...he was FACING directly away from you, i was thinkin the same as these other guys...maybe you caught the inside of him back leg or something???

i have no idea why you would take that shot, but it sounds like you got him around his azz.. lot's of white hair and the shot probably wouldn't have passed through.. unless you take out the spine, the deer is going to run a long way and take a long time to die with a shot like that..

Many ppl take neck shots. I assumed and felt confident at 30 yds I would take out the neck bone and he'd drop like a toilet seat. But its obvious that I pulled the shot an not sure where i hit. May have taken off a ear. When I shot I DID NOT feel myself pull so much that I hit him in the rear nor did I feel myself pull at all during the EXCITEMENT ¤¿¤ dunno ¤¿¤ ☺
