Roofing material for camp

Reply
Anyone knows where I can buy approx 20 sheets of "R" panel roofing material or equivalent (something close)...????

Does anyone know what I should expect to pay per sheet or per foot?

10 - 14 feet
10 - 16 feet

(they should measure 3'-3" width and cover 3'-0")

hey man i work at S&S Steel in Arnaudville and i actually run one of the rollform machines...the last time i checked, for 26 gauge R panel or M panel i THINK it was $2.29 ft, but from what im hearing the price is going up...if you want, i can check it out tomorrow and find out how much it is exactly...do you want galvalume or colored sheets? galv. sheets generally run cheaper i believe. if you want, you can call and talk to one of the salesmen 337-754-5097...i know i have a lot of R panel cover sheets that arent in that bad a shape...let me know if you need to find out anything for you.

The only real suggestion is to definitely go with the metal roofing. There's something about an afternoon rain on the metal roof that sooths the soul. If you are building a rustic camp you may look into "seconds" at Southern Structures or any of the metal marts. Color may not be quite up to snuff or something like that, but may get a deal on them. Good thing is that they are relatively short and can be hauled by a 16' trailer which should eliminate freight.

Just my suggestion.

Call Chris at Mueller Inc. in Port Allen 225-383-3181

Ask for seconds or maybe ones that were bent on the end and need trimming some. They have them sometime.

You may also try Metal Mart or check out the Sunday papers in the building materials sections.

I don't know where you're located, but Wheat's is located just pass the La/Miss state line before you get to Cross Rds.,Ms. They have an assortment of colors and lenghts of metal roofing with more than reasonable prices. I've bought roofing materials from them before for my camp. Their phone #:(601) 772-9000

I friend of mine bought some from Southern Structures in Lafayette. He bought some gal sheets. They were called seconds. We build a big barn out of them and we could not see anything wrong with the sheets to call them seconds. He told me he saved alot of money. I did not ask the price.

seconds are basically panels run from rejected coils. May be minor imperfections in the paint/metal. The company is credited a certain amount so they can afford to sell them at reduced cost.

I found them on the internet....I will call to see if they have some...
