I've got a little tournament next weekend in the Leeville/Grand Isle area. I'll be fishing the marsh backside of Grand Isle for the first time. I need some help with colors - in Dularge I fish purple and gold, in Montegut advocado....

So Grand Isle/Leeville marsh here are my four starting set ups - what color?

Top Dog Jr
Gold Spoon
Tandem Plastic (color here is my biggest help)
Live bait rig

Favorite colors? Any other suggestions? Remember you're the expert! I will be targeting reds, trout, flounder need at least one of each.

PS - I'll be fishing all varieties of water including very skinny since I will be in a kayak.

Spoons will be best in the marsh for redfish. As long as you can find decent water in some ducks ponds, you should find the reds with the spoon. The reason that I mostly use the spoon is because the clearer ponds will have grass that will get caught up on a regular plastic. If you can keep the grass off your line, a black with chartreuse tail is real good also.

As for specks, lately I have been catching them on electric chicken. The reds love this color also. One of my main baits for this area is also a Hybrid 3" flurry in gold chovey. It has a blue top with a clear bottom and gold flakes. Some locals also use a smoke colored grub. I never fish double rigs but some people do. I think that is more of a beach/oil rig type of bait for a little deeper water.

Top Dog jr. I would go with a red head and a white body for both specks and reds. If I was only targeting reds, I would use fire tiger.

Its not the color, but the presentation. Most people I know who say one color only works at this place or that place just havent tried other colors because they caught fish and left it at that. When it comes to saltwater: find the fish, use a good presentation, add a little noise/flash with popping corks or topwaters(can depend on time of year), or use something that mimics an injured baitfish in front of em and 99 times out of 100 your gonna do good on any color(assuming the whether/pressure is favorable of course!)
Now the mold/action of that plastic OR different baits themselves are a different story. That will make a difference.
Im assuming your fishing Paddle Palooza. Not sure if Im going yet myself. Good luck to you.

These guys are steering you all wrong. Icehouse Road is a haven for thieves and other wicked people.

Gold spoons NEVER catch redfish and the best trout bait is that stinky catfish bait from Walmart.

Trust me!!!

Heh heh heh...

feeling the love.

Don't worry I've now got more fishing spots than I can possibly fish. The only issue will be the color of my lures (not presentation - It couldn't be my presentation)!
