Illinois, Iowa, Kansas or, Missouri

Reply
I'm in the planning stages of a 2009 Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, or Missouri archery deer hunt. If anyone has any good or bad experiences with outfitters or lodges that they've visited recently please share them with me. I'm looking for a 5-6 day hunt with meals and room included. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Do not do your searching strictly by viewing outfitters websites, they all look good. Here are a few links that may be of some use. http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/OUTFITTERREPORTS/outfitter.cfm

My last piece of advice would be to absolutely steer clear of Hadley Creek outfitters in Illinois. They are probally the biggest out there but just do a google search and you will see why not to use them. One other that seems to produce alot of unhappy customers is IMB outfitters. Good luck and hope this helps.

You should check out Deer Creek Lodge. I have not hunted this property but I did buy a lab from them. I have personally seen the "old" lodge that was amazing and they were in the process of building a better one. Better???? do what??? Their prices are very good and the property manager is a really cool guy. Like I said I have not hunted just been there and bought a dog. They have a huge wing shooting program up there. Good luck.

Property is in Kentucky apx 40 min south of Illinois. I have seen HUGE deer driving my rig down the roads very close to this area.

If you are planning a hunt in either Iowa or Kansas you need to check on the lottery tag system. Have heard it is hard to get drawn the first year you apply in those 2 states. May have to settle for preference points the first year you apply. Not sure about Ill. but I do know you can buy over the counter tags in Missouri. Hope this info helps.

A friend of mine stepfather owns Halls Creek in Missouri It is 700 acres with 600 border fenced( high fence) but it just goes around a 600acre perimeter. They have great deer they are always showing me sheds and deer theyve killed.

I booked my hunt with IMB outfitters and I had to buy preference points last year and hope it's enough to go this year. There's still no guarantee that i will be able to go but with the buying of the points it's a pretty good chance I will. I understand there's no way of going the first year but I may be wrong. They have land in Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.

I hunt in Ohio every year and I have killed some great deer there. I go to Woodbury Outfitters in Coshocton Ohio. It takes about 14 hours to drive there and I keep going back. This will be my 5th year going there. The website you can go to is ohiotrophybuck.com. They have some really good prices with lodging and meals included. There is also about 200 tree stands in place and ready for any wind condition. They hunt on 6000 acres and have a very high opportunity and success rate with about 75% of there customers being return clients.
