Reply
Im gonna try my hand in running trot lines for the first time. I live in LaPlace so I have access to both Maurpas and Pont. Does anyone have any pointers that may help me out? Thanks in advance.

Pecka these lines work good need the bank by trees. It is try and era on how far and how deep. The best bait is to use crawfish about 2in long for good eating size cats or cut perch for those bigggg ones. If you need any more info just ask the MAN WHO KNOWS ALL !!!

On clear nights with full moon, put out a few jug lines in the open lakes. Put the hooks about 6 inches from the surface and bait'em up with tin foil. Trust me.......you won't catch any small ones this way. Only monsters. So if you don't catch anything, then they simply aren't there. Try another spot. When you find a spot that consistantly produces, put out the trot lines and make plenty of room in your freezer.

You should try barbecue flavor vienna sausage, the big cats luv em and they stay on the hook well. You should launch by reserve canal and run across Lake Maurepas pass through south pass then run across lake pontchartrain and put your lines around the mouth of the Tchefunta. Give it a try and get back with me.

I may need to pack 3 gallons of gas instead of 1.5 like I usually do. My 3.5 hp Merc gets real good mileage. It may take me a while to get there though. If I'm late for work Monday just tell them I should be on my way back by now. I was thinking of asking T-Neck to rub some plastic worms on his feet and useing them for bait on my lines. I know catfish like cheese so maybe toe cheese will work.
