gun repair

Reply
Had to bring my gun to the shop it isn't ejecting properly. Brought it to Custom in Lafayette, they said at least a month, which prob means 2. Does anyone know of anybody else who repairs guns around the Lafayette area. I know of Mike Brazda in Arnaudville hes my dad's friend but my dad said he would take just as long. And before anyone comments yes I took it apart and cleaned the heck out of it. And if its any relevance to who might repair it, its a Remington 11-87. I'd be willing to drive for up to an hour away if they could get it repaired quicker. Thanks for any help.

ALOT IF THE 1187s HAVE A O RING THAT GOES BAD AND WILL PREVENT THE SHELLS FROM EJECTING. CAN PURCHASE O RING AT HARDWARE STORE.

i definately agree, if its gonna take the same amount of time, id bring it to mike brazda...i seriously doubt that it'll take that long though...it'll be hard to find a better gunsmith anywhere in the state pretty much...he's the only person i bring my guns to.

Two things come to mind. The o-ring was mentioned earlier. There is also the return spring in the buttstock. These can become rusty and crusty over time. My 1100 recently got finicky on me. The return spring, tube, and follower were NASTY. I couldn't even get the cap off the tube in the buttstock. I had to go in the front with a .45 caliber brush and some Hoppe's #9 to clean it. This requires disassembling the action, which isn't hard for the mechanically inclined.
You may also want to check to make sure the gas ports in the barrel aren't restricted by crud.
For a quick turnaround, I suggest Rich's Gun & Coin in Baton Rouge on Moterrey Dr. Someone mentioned Eduardo Chahin......I don't.
