I have had nothing but bad luck with Thermocells. They will work a couple of times and then will not ignite. The fuel cell has fuel and I'll even change it out, but it will not fire.

Is it me, or has anyone had bad luck with them also. I will be returning it today. This will be my 4th one!

Do you meen the ignitor will not click when you press it?If so just put it in the off position and knock on the side of it with something and it will light everytime.I learned this one morning 20ft in the tree when mine would not light again and i got pissed and slamed it up against the tree.Works great now,but like i said you have to bang on that SOB often.

No I'll see a little flame when I click it , but not all the time. I don't think I hear the butane coming out.

I have found that I have to click the ignitor several times before it finally ignites...but once it ignites, it stays lit...just keep clicking it 'till it ignites. I've had several work the same way.

No Trouble
Man I have never had trouble with mine, been having it for about 4 years. Turn it on, wait about 5 seconds and hit the igniter and it lites the first time every time. Best hunting gadget I ever bought. If all the grunt calls, bleat calls and estrus scents worked as good as this thing does there would not be a deer left in the woods... I love mine.

Never
I have two of them and have never had a problem with either.
I can't explain why you are having such bad luck with them. I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem.

I hope you get one that works because they really are effective at keeping the bugs away.

try this
neva enough try this...turn the fuel on and wait about 5 or 10 seconds..untill the fuel stops hissing and then hit the ignitor..had the same prob u are describing and this seems to work for me

Try this
If I remember my chemistry, butane is heavier than oxygen. Turn it upside down when lighting it. I've found that this will usually do the trick after a few clicks.

You got a bad run of the units. There's nothing you can do but swap it out. Several people've had the problem this year.

When it's working it's great. Figures I'd come across a bad batch. Gonna bring this one back and try another. Mosquitoes ran me out of the deer blind last evening, and of course on my way out ran three out.

So yesterday, my Thermocell quit working (again). I missed a 6 point in the morning and if I could have sat 30 more minutes coulda at least had some meat.

What a way to start my year off! LOL

Awesome Product!
I really like mine, only have one & have had it for about 3 years now, never one single problem, lights first or 2nd click every time. And trust me, when you hunt in Vermilion parish, thats a GOOD thing!!!

I have the same problem. I gotta get a new one before turkey season. They work if they will ignite. You are the only person other than myself, that I have heard has had this problem. I can tell you this: If there is a bad batch of anything, I will find it.

when they sit up for a while
i had this happen to mine when it sat up for a while.. the port where the butane bottle screws in got a little gummed up.. it took a little doing with some warm water and an air commpressor (to blow out the water) but it worked fine after it dried off.

Rem:

I am going to try that and see if it works. Thanks.

Neva:
Maybe... You could have 1001 whatevers for sell with 1000 of them in fine working order, and I will pick up the one defective one every time it seems. But try what Remford suggested. It just doesn't make sense to me that mine doesn't work anymore. All it was doing was sitting in a closet. It wasn't like I did anything to it.

I had a similar problem with mine. It would take 30-40 strikes to ignite it. I began turning it on and waiting for about a minute or two to allow time for the butane to reach the igniting area before striking it. Worked like a charm. I think some of them put out more butane faster that others. I guess i have one of the slower ones. One good thing about it is a bottle last me a long time, usually about 15 hours of cont use. Try it.

wait
Hey just Duckassassion said, wait a while for the butane to build up or reach the ignition area. Mine does that, and can't afford to be clicking that thing making alot of noise. I usually wait about 5-10 seconds.

Never had a problem with mine. Works great. Now, that being said, I have seen 'skeeters buzzing around me with it on, and I think NOTHING will keep EVERY mosquito away, EVERY time. However, the few I see with it on don't bother me. Maybe one or two bites, but it keeps the vast majority of them off. A few weeks ago I was bowhunting one afternoon and the wind started blowing. It was cold that morning and no mosquitoes around. Didn't need to even light it. Well, that afternoon back on my stand, them 'skeeters was hungry! I didn't bother to light my thermacell, though, because I figures I'd just waste the stuff because of the wind. Well, maybe I should have tried it anyway. The wind was coming from my left, and I had about two or three bites on that side, and about 100 bites on my right, where I was blocking the wind for them! Seriously, they were buzzing around my downwind side eating me alive! Next time, I'll light it anyway, wind or not.
