You know after all the time you spend trying to show your kids the right way of life and going through the tough times of having to hunt in spots because you had him or her with you are just any situation you could think of that put a dent in your plans because you have to cater to the lil fella or lil' girl. I had some friends tell me, your bringing your son with you again?, and my answer was always yea!! I brought my son on every hunt i went on, and i still bring him today, he stayed in my back pocket since he was probably 4,it didn't matter if we was by the camp, fishing, putting up stands are working on the camp it didn't matter, hunting ducks, deer, rabbits it didn't matter i kept him with me. Some parents think they are to young to go in the outdoors and keep them confined and inside playing with toys and games till they are 12 are 13. Then they decide to take them, its never to late, start them young and results will come as they grow! I have to put with some s - - t now don't get me wrong! My ice box in my shop always has fish or birds or some kind of dead animal in their that he killed and sometimes cleans, but that's a good thing i don't mine that! When they grow up you are going to see all the work you put in is paying off. This is my son, im not trying to brag on him, i'm just proud of the lil'guy he is today, who knows what can happen in a life time, he might not even want to hunt later in life but at least i gave him an option!
Him and i spent alot of time together, some good, some bad, but i would never ever trade one minute of that time for nothing. Its a dad's special little thing i guess to see your boy growing up and trying to do the some of the things that you showed him. He's a strong minded lil'fella that has a bright future and was tought not to take nothing for granted. Bring them with and give up some of your special time and give it to them, im telling you it will pay off, it is for me right now i'm seeing it. I'm watching him grow into a young man, boy that's a hard one to swallow! I tell him all the time, i can't wait till you can take me hunting, you hang the stands, you walk me to the stand in the morning, you cook the food at the camp, and you clean up, i can be a helper. Just wanted to give you all a heads up that they don't stay lil'boy's for long and im sure all you dads out their know that but it seems like yesterday when he was just a little S - - T and now my boots are to small for him. He is my son but he's also my best friend, whether he know's it are not! Stay on the track your on bud, keep huntin, keep fishin, and go to school and get your education, watch out for the girls, and good things are going to come your way! G-man, you can call me anytime for a shotgun and some shells, even though i thought you was crazy, Daddy's gonna bring it to you bud! Awsome job on the goose man! Who spotted the goose first you are mama?
