Thats a real prize , did you know that all the turtle you eat at Louisiana restaraunts are from other states as you can't sell turtle meat caught in this state as they are protected , however they are not protected from the residents for personal consumption , Hard Rock Casino has some really good turtle soup

I'm fixing to do the same thing, I got a few turtles in the backyard that my son caught in the ditch behind the house, one is bigger than that one, hope it doesn't have all that fat. I rather them without the fat there. Hangem you must have consumed a few acoholic beverages before that date.

Since when is it illegal to sell turtle meat in Louisiana? I have been to fish markets where people bring in turtles of all kinds to sell.

A lot of the "turtle meat" is actually imitation, taken from the jowls and legs of alligators.

Marshrat , check in to it if you doubt , I try hard not to post it if I don't think it's 99.9999% truth , no Louisiana turtles ( includes all spieces ) may be sold ,they are all on the endangered list , you can eat them if you catch them , if they are selling Louisiana turtles at country flea markets they could be in trouble if caught , call Game Theft -----------------when I was a kid I use to catch the baby red ear mobilian turtles and sell or trade them at the pet store on Paris Ave , they were worth a quarter a piece , some diasease came along assosiated with the turtles and they quit selling them ---------I see Mike Lane is looking for someone to give him some baby red ear turtles for a school thing right now

If I remember correctly.......about 5 or 6 years ago the Law about Turtles was changed.

I beleive the limit is 1 per day on the snaping turtles.
