i went to blind river and didnt catch a thing. i probably would have if i didnt hit a sumbmerged motor loser and watched my motor sink to the bottom. we got it back though. and it runs like a 1 legged waitress at ihop. im lookin to make a trip to manchac one these days.

Tips on Manchac: Don't fish it. It received a major fish kill after Gustav. Also, when it starts warming up you will be competing with alot of boat traffic. Try places like Bayou Lacombe or the upper parts of the Tchfuncte River. I do not think those areas were hit with Gustav as hard.

Hey FLiesitdies,
I have fished there some. Mainly the areas around the rudduck exit. I'm not a professional by any means and am still learning but before Gustav I would fish around the Rudduck exit areas and would catch any where between 3 to 30 fish. I went the day before Gustav and in one 200yd inlet a buddy and I caught probably 50 bass between 10-16in. in a matter of two hours. That's only happend a couple of times but I would at least catch 2 or 3 keepers. I would have to fish for 'em though. I went three times since Gustav, during the week with no other boaters, and didn't even get a bite! I can usually got anywhere and throw a finesse worm and catch something. Haven't been back, waste of a 45 min. drive and a $27 dollars in gas.

There are a few areas in False River you can fish with your boat safely, in my opinion. It can get crowded though on weekends. Have to get there early.

There was a fish kill everywhere . I know the area . There is Sandy Bayou across and farther down amite river from there. A few ponds that you can get to also.

Are you talking about the pass manchac area?

I fish the same water. I usually fish the Amite though. I've been there 3 times in the past year and never come away with anything great. Caught so bream a while back but that was it. I went out there last Friday and fished for a couple of hours with a buddy of mine and didn't even get a bite. We used spinners and live worms.

yea well i kno wat you mean. fished that place hard for hours and we did get a few bites but didn't put any fish in the boat. well how is the bass fishing in the Amite River? is it any good? ive heard there are a lot of bass in there just no size to em.

I think they are talking about Bayou Manchac. It starts at Alligator Bayou in Prairieville (by Spanish Lake), crosses under Perkins Road right by Santa Maria, crosses under Airline by the State Fairgrounds, and runs into the Amite.

I don't know how bad the fish kill was there but on the other side of the lake it was pretty bad. I'd imagine it was pretty bad there too.

dustinb is right. that is the place i was talking about. has anyone ever fished it? since the hurricane maybe? what about the amite river? can you catch fish there right now?

Where is old timer? I remember when it was at 9000k and he was on here telling everybody to sell evrything they had and put it in the stock market. a "once in a lifetime oppertunity" is what he said. well I crunched some numbers. if you took old timers advice, you are down another %25... that would have sucked. Im in money markets and cd's until this thing turns around.

what does this have to do with anything? lol

You're driving the wrong direction. GO WEST YOUNG MAN!!! Try fishing Bayou Pigeon/Sorrel areas. It's about a 1 hour drive out of Baton Rouge. Cross the bridge, south on HWY 1 through Plaquemine, right on HWY 70. At the end of HWY 70, is Jack Miller's landing. Launch boat there, go down the bayou across from the landing (Upper Bayou Sorrel). Start there, then try going toward Pigeon, and the rest of the spillway!! Have fun!!

phill...you gonna get this boy lost...jack millers is not at the end of 70....its 75...belleview road.....and would not recommend launching at jack millers with the boat he is in...

fliesitdies...you can go this way, but take a left at jack millers and take the first pontoon bridge on the right, hit the levee and go north back towards interstate...tons of good places for your boat...but this is getting kinda far from br...you been looking for places to go close to br...
