I'm fishing a very important tournament on the 21st in the bend. Not looking for specific locations but what patterns are producing the best right now? I am launching at San Miguel State Park. I only have friday to scout. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, greenhead

Man I love to fish San Miguel. Haven't had a chance to go yet this year but from what I'm hearing the buck brush will be out of the picture. If they are still spawning, head to the back and find some pockets with grass. Flip the plastic of your choice or throw a senko or wacky worm. A Fluke can produce well too if they are chasing bait fish. If the fish have begun to move out, try the flat on the north side of San Miguel's mouth. Also, the old 1215 Hwy will hold some good fish. Can't go wrong with a carolina rig or a big crank bait.

Toledo Bend has come up a foot over since last friday. Water may be a little off color. With the warmer weather though you may start finding fish moving closer to the bank following the lake rise. Senko's have been real hot along with BBH's & flukes. Watermelon Red seems to be the color but I'd try other color patterns close to this. Critter baits ought to be good too. Slow rolling a Booyah spinnerbait has potential as well. Any main lake point close to deep water should have fish stacked on it like cord wood. I get regular reports from my camp neighbor that lives on the lake. He fished the oilmans last weekend and fought the wind and cold weather. These patterns were producing for him. I'm stuck on turnaround still so send a report and some pic's when you get back.

We caught our fish in 4-6' of water on Friday & Saturday. Water temp was 57.5 to 58 in Lanan Creek pockets & coves. Caught majority of our fish on red rattle traps, a few on lizards/crawworms.

thanks for the reports guys...i am a senior in high school and I am fishing for $6,000 in college scholarship money saturday. I am fishing the National High School tournament put on by I-Carenation. I'm from the south so i only get a trip to the bend once a year. I just missed the money in the Children's Miracle Network tournament by 4 ounces a week and a half ago

I really appreciate the tips.....my bread and butter is a watermelon red sinko rigged wacky style so i cant wait....just need those 1 or 2 key bites

I've had good luck the past couple of weeks fishing the ditches and lilly pad stems near the mouth of Patroon. Caught a 6 pounder and put her back and also missed one that folded my 7'6" Heavy Carrot Stix in half. Patroon is on the Texas side of the Lake opposite of San Miguel. You should give it a try. All my bass out of there have come on Senkos and Baby Brush Hogs. Color = Anything Watermelon
