Boat launch in Slidell

Does anyone mind giving me directions to a boat launch in Slidell? I'm wanting to take my wife to Pontchartrain to experience some trout fishing. I'm not familiar with the Lake and will probably fish not too far from wherever I put in. I'm coming from Denham and will be coming down I-12. Any launch really, will be greatly appreciated. Somewhere where I will not have to go too far out into open water. A few fellas on this site recommended the Rigolets or the Causeway. Also, is the trout bite more prominent in the morning or could I get out there by at least 8 or 9 and still have a chance? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

what size boat? Man, the wind that we've had lately has the lake pretty mean so if you're in a smaller boat you may want to wait a week or two. My fishing partner eastofmrgo canceled a trip Wed after work because of the wind and that's a rarity for him.

So provide a little more info and we'll try to guide you. Also, I can't comment on the Causeway, never fished there.

Thanks for your response. I have a 17' fiberglass with a 120. It has a pretty deep hull for a bass boat. If it is as bad as you were mentioning I might reconsider.I was trying to find somewhere for tomorrow to catch a few trout. It doesn't have to necessarily be Slidell. I'm willing to drive an hour or so, make the day out of it.

I am by no means an expert but you may want to consider the Rigolets area. You can launch at Rigolets Marina and fish Geohagen's Canal or shoot across the Rigolets to the Lake Catherine area and fish off of the ICW, Miller's Ditch, Unknown Pass, Blind Rigolets, etc.

Rigolet's Marina - I-12 East to I-10 West (heading to New Orleans) get off at Hwy 433 (Old Spanish Trail) and head East (take a left), follow it to the end and you will hit Hwy 90, the marina is right across the street.
