Made an late afternoon trip yesterday and found the trout hungry. My guest and I were greeted with stiff SW winds, falling tide and stained water. We hit the first spot that had a lake draining into a canal. We set up with the wind and lake at our backs and casted into the deep water canal. It was on, trout after trout were hitting the deck. We caught a trout on the first 11 casts. These fish were small, but aggressive. All fish hitting artificial cocahoes in smoke and alvacado colors on 3/8 ounce jigheads. The trout were glued to the bottom and wanted the bait slowly moved just up from the oyster shells. Had some boat traffic in the area which had to stop and try to get in on the bite. Eventually a boat trolled between us and the flow of the current which effectively shut the bite down. We caught over 100 trout to end up with 32 keepers. Not bad for a 2 hour afternoon trip 5-7PM. The tidal range is increasing this week and should offer excellent opportunities for fish catching action. Good luck out there this weekend!
