Check ya fuel pump. Two diaphrams in it. One of them may have a hole. Also, check and make sure ALL of your lines are in good shape and clean your carbs.

Pretty sure that this is a fuel delivery issue. You may already know this but had similar issues with my 40 Merc recently. Just some of the things that I went to. Last was the fuel pump which was the problem.

Good luck

It could be sucking air. Check hose, bulb & fittings. Is it losing prime when it dies? Also check vent & make sure it's not plugged.

Power pack. Same thing was happening to mine. I had one power pack out. When you get on it, all the gas on one side of your motor is not burning and causing your motor to flood out.

I am no mechanic, but that is identical to the problem I had.

make sure fuel hose from tank doesnt have any holes. does the ball get hard when you pump it. try getting on step while pumping the ball.

It's an 08..........That means sensors everywhere don't it?? If it's not getting the proper oil, won't the computer not let the engine rev up????

2 stroke im guessing? make sure your plug wires are on your spark plugs good. also if your looking at the back of the motor one the left side you have the emergency choke, its a lil red lever. make sure thats in the right position. i think its all the way down, there is a diagram right next to it and shows you where its suposed to be.

A While bake I had the same problem with my 1991 Merc, brought it to a good machanic and it had him puzzled for a while. It WAS a 90 hp. and would do the same thing. After he changed a couple of parts he went run it with the cover off and saw that it was just a spring like deal on the throtle that was the problem, after he had changed all kinda parts and cleaned the carbs, this was a good machanic and he said it was a good lesson for him......Hope this helps. You might want to check for a kinked gas hose, possibly inside to motor cover. Had that happen on 4 stroke 90.

Shouldn't an 08 still be covered?
