might need some bowfishermen

Reply
My 2 ponds are full of gar and choupique. I might need some bowhunters to help me slay these pests. The wind has been so bad the past month its hard to see them, but we have been killn a few. I will post again soon with more info depending on feedback. Bow season is a ways away, this is one way of passing the time while waiting on Mr. Whitetail! (There are several boat launches)

It's your pond and your fish, shock them. Scoop up the ones you don't want.

I doesn't kill any fish. It just stuns them long enough for you to scoop them up. It doesn't hurt them at all. I've done it with shocking boats made to do just that but I've heard of people making their own out of old telephone cranks etc. I don't see why you couldn't use a battery and jumper cables to do it. It may or may not work. Won't take long to find out.

Or you can get you a horse devil or a big hula popper with some good line (possibly a black wire leader) and wear em out.

If the pond is near Baton Rouge and has a boat launch in it, let me know. Me and a couple friends would be glad to drop our bowfishing boat in and wear em out at night for you. Went last night in Bayou Manchac and did ok, but the water was still too dirty.
