what size engine would help a little? thanks!!!

Its probably either the fuel pump or fuel filter. It sounds like its not getting enough fuel.

sorry about that it is a 25 hp on a 15 ft flat.

also i called up master marine in lafayette and asked about rebuilding the carb. he said it would run about 250. ive delt with this guy before and he was real good but has anyone else ever used him. thanks

the most you should pay is 65 a carb. hour per carb to dissemble clean and re assemble. does that motor have three carbs? if not i would bring it to someone else because thats a rip off.

I run a 2000 40 Merc(2 stroke if you think it matters). I rebuilt and cleaned carbs. I changed filters, etc, etc... The carbs needed cleaning but due to fuel hose breakdown. They had the good black chunks in the jets and the whole bit. That getting fixed still didn't fix the problem. It wound up being the fuel pump. Those chunks plugging my carbs first had to go through the fuel pump and tore up the diaphrams up inside.

Check that. It's really a cheap fix even at a mechanic. I had to take it to one since it was out of my knowledge base at the time.

Master Marine is a good outboard shop. The guys name is bill amie, go over there explain to him whats going and he should be able to fix you up. I know a couple of people that deal with him and always go back and never complain about the service, i am actually having similar problems with my yamaha 40 and have one more ideal of what it could be and if that doesnt do it then its off to master marine.

well i might have found the problem. Got home today and tookthe fuel pump off.cleaned it up real good and put it back on. With the ears on the motor ran 100% better,in forward neutral and reverse. i just hope it stays that way when i put it in the water. Thanks again.

Sounds like you have a little water in your tank. Put you a can of Sea Foam in the tank
