I hear Rudoc is a great place to catch plenty of bream, but I don't fish there because most of the canals are shallow and I'm not very familiar with the area, so I always go to manchac. I mostly catfish at night at manchac, but when I just want to get out on the water during the day and do some fishing not far from home, I bream fish in the canals under the interstate. If you are just looking to catch some fish and you aren't trying to fill up the freezer with meat, it will do the job. There are PLENTY of small-medium sized bream, and you dont have to go far from the boat launch. They do have some good sized goggle-eye though. I usually fish with night crawlers. The goggle-eye will hit the night crawlers, but the larger ones like shinners.
Good Luck, And Have fun!
