GPS help

I have had a Eagle FishElite 502c iGPS for a few years. Last weekend the GPS lost its location and never found it. A question mark flashes in the cursor and never finds location. Any ideas whats causing this. I did a soft and hard reset with no luck. Going to do a softwsre upgrade today.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The question mark indicates that the unit cannot find the present position. It should indicate the location where it was last able to receive a GPS position.

The specifications indicate that the unit has an internal antenna, so it should not be a corrosion problem with the antenna connections. That leaves an internal problem that is not function properly as a probable cause.

If your hot and cold restarts did not solve the problem, and the upgrade did not solve the problem, try a voltage check on the power getting to the unit. Does it fluctuate beyond the requirements?

Remember that the antenna MUST have a clear view of the sky in order to operate properly. The unit will not work inside a boat shed or garage.

If all of these suggestions fail to remedy the problem, then you should get on the phone with the EAGLE support section. They can be reached at a toll-free Customer Service line at 1-800-324-1354. Technicians and representatives are available to help you Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, except holidays.

As a note, I do NOT leave my GPS, sonar and compass mounted when I am trailering my rig. The vibration in the towed boat is enormous. Although these items are supposedly insulated to such socks, I believe that it diminishes the overall life span of all of such equipment.

Let me know how you make out with the dilemma.

After being on hold with Navico serveal times for 30+ minutes each they told me to send it in at the cost of $230. Seems like I only paid about $500 for it. Hope it is worth the pay out.
