Suzuki 140hp

Reply
I am looking at buying a new 140hp Suzuki to put on my 20ft by 6ft V bottom aluminum boat. The boat is built out of all 3/16, will this motor do a good job pushing this rig? Does anyone have pros or cons on this motor. Thanks for the info.

Had one for 6 years with out any problems. I had it on a 19ft bay boat. The boat ran good with the 140 it wasn't blazing fast but it did alright and was great on gas. I think the 140 will push your rig alright, I will also look into seeing how much more it will cost you to go with the 150.

I think that 140 should push that 20' Alum boat without any problem. I have an X22B Xpress which has the hyper-lift hull with a 150 4 stroke Yamaha. The dry weight of the boat is 1,700 pounds. With 3 men, ice chest, gear and just say 35-40 gallons of gas I can run right at 50mph @ 5,900 rpms. I bet the boat you are looking at does not have a weight of more than 1,400 pounds.

Put the 150 big block 4cyl on the back of that boat. The 140 is a small block 4 cyl.

I am not looking to win any races, just get around with a good load in the boat( 4-wheeler and some gear), with top speed around 45mph without a load. The 140 Suzuki sounds like it may underpower the boat. Would 150hp Optimax do better. I found a used Opti. Thanks again for the info

I've never heard anything but good things about the 140 Suzi. By all accounts it's a great motor that many people have thousands of hours on.

It should push it like a scalded ape. I have a 20ft flat bottom that was 6ft wide with a older 115 merc. And it hauled azz.
