Delacroix Reds with Capt. Jack Payne

My son and I were fortunate enough to share a boat today with Captain Jack Payne with Sweetwater Guide Service. We were sight fishing for pushing reds in the ponds just to the east of Delacroix.

The reds were really spooky from all the Redfish Cup anglers hitting them hard, but we were able to put together a good box of reds that came on purple/chartreuse and black/chartreuse YUM paddle tails, gold spoons and spinnerbaits.

Captain Jack was very accommodating of my 7-year-old son Matthew, and he spend a lot of his time explaining things, pointing out cool stuff and helping him catch some reds. Matthew was still on Cloud 9 as we put his fish on the grill tonight. All he could talk about was Captain Jack's "magic pole" and how he smoked him and me.

Thanks Captain Jack, and if any of you want to take your young kids on a redfishing trip, visit Sweetwater Guide Service at Any of you adults would also have a great time without kids. Captain Jack is a class act, and I appreciate all of his hard work today.
That is a nice one! Great picture. Way to go Matthew!
