I have a TC encore(not the Pro Hunter) and I love it. I did not know if I wold like a single shot gun at first but it is awesome. I purchased mine with the 50 cal barrel and then bought a 300 mag which was a bad choice. It was way to much gun for the hunting I am doing in Alabama. Two years ago I bought the 280 and love it. I have not missed in two seasons so two seasons so confidence is high with the single shot. The 280 is ideal because it has good knock down power but can still shoot flat at longer distance. I have had other members in my club buy one after seeing mine. I would positively recommend it to any one. My opinion.
The gun is accurate but most the guns out there are. I don't really try to shoot one hole just good enough to kill deer. One place you can tell the TC is well built is the trigger they have zero slack or take up and are very smooth.
I would get the heavy barrel not the fluted one. I have a 308 in the heavy and love it. I have 3 Encores 300 win mag Fluted barrel., 308 heavy barrel, and a 444 heavy barrel. I have a 270 extra barrel in standard. These are all SS Barrels and Encores
Look at the barrels at this site. They also sell accuracy barrels
My son and I each have one. Two .50 cal barrels w Nikon Omega scopes, two .35 Whelen barrels, and a 7mm-08 barrel. I love my thumb-hole stock and fluted barrel .35. All very accurate. Hebert Guns in Prairieville will set you up w virtually whatever you want. They carry a large selection.
I have 5 barrels and 3 complete rifles and love all of them. The factory barrels are great but you can also go to Matchgrade Machine Works and buy there barrels recently purchased a 26" 308 barrel with the 1/10 twist and can bust the same hole with a 3 shot group at 100 yards they are all they claim to be. I have a Pro Hunter in the 300 mag caliber that Jeremy Ellis put me a muzzle break on my barrel is 29.5 inches long and very sweet shooting I also love the thumb hole stocks I use to be an A-Bolt man till I bought a Thompson.
I have 2 encores, one regular in the 25-06 bull barrel and the other in the pro-hunter with a match grade fluted 270 weatherby mag, you talk about one bad a$$ rig.Love both, been shooting them for a couple of years now. Also have a brand new never opened 7mm-08 28in. stainless fluted pro-hunter barrel for sale for 250.00 225-405-7874.
I have a encore already with the 50 cal muzzle loader. It has a thumb hole stock but I want to get me a barrel maybe 22-250 or something like that. I hunt a couple places that have some shots that are in excess of 400yrds and kinda wanna step up the challenge on some hogs.
Capt. Killa have the same Rifle I brought it to Jeremy Ellis in Prairieville and he put me a custom muzzle break on it I bought a set of Luepold 30mm mounts this season and upgraded to the Zeiss 56mm scope and I have that thing driving tacks. All together I have 29.5 inches of barrel on a 300 mag that kicks in the back like a 243 but still packs one hell of a punch in the front..
you cant beat a prohunter... same gun, same trigger pull no matter what barrel you have on it...i would think about the caliber though.. check out ballistics charts and pick a caliber that will fit your needs..30-06 is old school
I own and killed with encore and the KP1 !!! I like the trigger pull of the KP1 better and the balance of the KP1 is better. When I only had the encore, I too thought it was the shlts!!!!! but now after hunting a few seasons with the KP1 I prefer it over any gun I own!!!! IF YOU CAN GET A KP1 buy one!! I don't care if they are not made anymore !! Many fine brownings are not made any more and the price keeps going up for them !!! Good luck with your new goose neck boat paddle.!!
