i was in there one time and the old man in front of me was dropping his trolling motor off to be repaired. when the old man asked how long it would take the man said about a week. the old man said he was planning on going fishing that weekend. the guy at the counter got a motor off the rack and put the type of plug in the guy had and said he could use it until he fixed the other one. that kind of service is awesome. i would highly recommend them.

Great guys, great service...they've worked on my TM as well as the Merc...

just picked mine up
I've had work done by them twice now. They usually take a week or two but the wait is worth having the job done right.

Thanks guys, my trolling motor is barely turning over and the motor is getting extremely hot. My minn Kota is still under warranty so I figured I would let someone else deal with. I appreciate the input.

Take this for what it's worth, I live in Gonzales and drive to either Pierre Part or Slidell. I know quite a few people that will WALK their trolling motor to Alaska before they go to Baton Rouge.

Some people swear by that place, some people would rather paddle then go there.

There are several guys that work there, it will not take you long to figure out which one you DO NOT want to deal with...

Dropped it off today
I dropped off my trolling motor today at front to back boat service. Before I made it back they were already calling me telling me that they figured out what was wrong and the parts had been ordered, and it will be ready by Wednesday. Seems fairly good to me.

Simply the best.
Ive done business with the Trolling motor shop(Front to Back) for years and they are top notch. Great service and unbeatable knowledge of trolling motors. Sometimes the parts have to be ordered or they are backordered. Sh%& happens. Get over it. If you want it done right the first time, bring it to Front to Back. Period. Or take your chances with someone else....Your choice...www.venicecharters.com...Capt. Brent Roy

Got mine back today. Super nice people. I wasen't complaining. I just didn't hear any thing and I hate to call and they think I am rushing them. Hopefully I get to put it in the water this weekend. What is your thoughts on Minn Kota? Mine is only a year old and already in the shop.

Mine's a Minn Kota!
Mine is also a minn Kota, 70# riptide, and was bought in April of '08. So mines just over a year old. My last minn Kota was purchased back in 2004 and is still being used, so I don't know what is up with this one. Hopefully I don't have this problem again.

what kind of problem is yours having?

Nobody is perfect
I have not had a great experience with them. I have Riptide ST 101/CP/AP purchased in 2008 that last year would not turn left/right. I took it to Front to back last year and they fixed it. This year, after being out 2 times, it started doing the same thing. When you take the remote and go left-right-left-right-etc, the motor tries to turn and after awhile, it will start to loosen up and start to move but that takes 10-15 min of going back and forth. I took it back and without them taking the unit apart, they claimed they knew what the problem was. They ordered a new transmission for it and when it came in, they found they were wrong and had to order more parts. They have had my trolling motor for almost 2 months now. Still waiting on more parts. Had they diagnosed the problem correctly the first time, I believe I could have had it back faster. I have lost faith in Minn Kota and am not totally satisfied with Front to Back. I appreciate them still trying to fix the motor but have been without it for most of the year. I hope when I get it this time, it works. They are currently waiting on a part for the Autopilot (however, the autopilot never had a problem, wonder if they damaged that working on the motor). I will be happy when it's fixed. I don't mean to be negative, but I am just reporting what my experience has been. It's frustrating to buy a nice trolling motor and be without out it for the year. Maybe it will be fixed by winter when my boat stays in the driveway.

Nothing but good things to say about them. They took about 3 weeks to repair but they were super busy at the time. Works great now!!

The problem I'm having with mine is that when I would step on my Bigfoot switch you could hear a click in the head, and the prop would turn ever so slowly if it would even turn at all, and the motor it self was getting extremely hot. I checked everything in the boat before I brought it to them, just to make sure the problem wasn't in the boat wiring. I was looking to upgrade to 101# riptide but I may be going with a motorguide instead now.

Ken Sherman is a first class guy and has always taken good care of me with my trolling motor problems. I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to him.....

I also checked every thing in my boat. I always have the weirdest problems that no one has ever heard of. I have a 80LB and it works fine for about a hour or so. The last time I used it was up in Lake Mary and I was trolling around all those cypress stumps picking up a few sacs and bass and sometimes you would step on the switch and it would work fine and sometimes nothing. When it did nothing I would push the switch off and on for a while before it would go. As long as you keep your foot on the switch when it would go it would run strong all day long. So I cut the switch off and wired it direct and it still did the same thing. I checked my connections on the battery to make sure they were cleaned and tight and I also checked all my fuses and the plug itself. The batteries are about a year old but they hold a full charge every time I charge them. Any way Front to Back said they changed a bearing so I'll try that out.
