Used ATV'S

Reply
I am looking at many of the used ATV's that are in the classified section. In everyone's opinion, what is the best make/model atv based on owner experience. I don't know much about them, just wondering if i should stay away from or lean towards a certain make. Thanks in advanced for everyones comments.

you should definitely go with a Honda, i deer hunt and mud ride, and it hasn't let me down, i have a Recon 250 and a foreman 450, the Recon is my hunting bike, and my foreman is my mud bike, the Recon is 2wheel drive and I have carried a 250 pound buck out of the forrest with that little bike, and with the Foreman 450, i have brought it in water up to the racks completely stock, with no snorkel, but after i got my snorkel, i went past the handle bars. So good luck choosing the right bike. Connor.

I have a whole hunting camp of members that will tell you to get Honda. Not every one has Honda but, those of us who do were able to ride planting weekend when the two Polaris and one Yamaha gave us trouble. Just my opinion.

I am no expert but, stay away from Polaris and ANYTHING snorkeled...

Brute force baby ... one bad a$$ hombre. I wouldn't touch a used bike that's been snorkled either. Over size tires also a turn off when looking at used bikes.

Hands down honda.Keep it simple the more tricks and wistles that are on a bike will only make it break faster.
If you want a bike that will last you 10-20 years and never leave you walking.Buy a honda with manual shift and air cooled. They are maintance free change oil put gas and go that simple.Do not buy a bike with a auto/belt drive unless you want to do maintance on it.
Ive been running my honda 400 for 10 years now never had one ounce of trouble. With a little TLC im hopeing to get 10 more.

go online and look iit up which is the #1 best 500 artic cat,#2 is the 500 artic cat double rider,, check it out!, my artic cat will circle hondas and pull them out the stuck mud holes ,, i know i have done it several times,, i use mines like a bulldozer and it is betteer than a timex ,, gets plenty lickings and never stopped tickin.

I would have to say if your looking a something a little older stick with a Honda. I would buy an 300 4x4 will last for ever and very good power for size. The Artic Cat 500 is another die hard but stick with the manuel trans. DO NOT buy anything that is or has been snorkled or has extremely aggresive tires on it. Find a bike that is as close to stock as possible.

you can pretty much go any way you want no one makes total crap and its all up to care and maint. I am a Can-am guy but my brother and cousin both have hondas and can hang we are issued polaris in the Army and i've beat the h*ll out of them and made it back most trips brute forces have a lot of unprotected electronics (cousin totaled 09 brute force 750 first mud hole fried cdi box) hondas can smoke and have been known to have front brake problems can-ams are pricey but worth it yamaha should stick to sport bikes
biggest thing is tuneups, good parts, wash it and dont try and break it
dont look at sticker if you want a new one you will add $s before you leave
my cousin and i got in a drunken disagreement bout value vs cost neither won his honda follows my can-am most of the time but he did pay $4gs less til he lifted it put a winch on new tires new rims etc... well in the end he discovered his honda cost him bout $2500 more than mine and we r equipted the same point is have a plan from the start its cheaper and if you buy used find out y i would have to have a freakin good reason to sell even if i bought another

get one owned by an old man like me--it will be trouble free for years to come--i guess it will wear out one day-its 12 yrs old -on second set of tires--it aint fast and glitzy--but it wont quit

Ive got a 2003 Kawasaki prairie 360 4x4 advantage camo edition with a 2500lb winch. I maybe put 10 or 20 hours a year on it. I use it to get to the stand and back or to fill my feeders If your intrested let me know. I can send pics
