xperts all the way, kents jam up in my guns, extrema, sx3 and even in a 870. the brass on the shells expand when shot and jam in the chamber and the extractors on the bolt cant pull them out and end up tearing the back of the shell. i have had better patterns from xperts and killed more ducks with xperts.

I used to shoot the Win. HVs but switched to Kent. There was a post a while back about the HVs having a lot of misshaped pellets and after opening one it is true. Deformed pellets don't fly straight. Depending on your hunting situation it might not make a whole lot of difference if your shots are close. I plan on shooting what HVs I have left in the timber and Kents in the fields. Hope this helps.

when i first started using xperts 4 or 5 years ago i swore by them....never had problems....but that only lasted a year or two....it seemed as if they had no more power....anything out the range of 20-25 yards got away with 3 shots fired....thought it was just me haha but i decided to try some new shells..the remington nitro steels....well i soon found out it wasnt me! the rem nitros and estates are hard to beat for long range shots...i'll still use the xperts at times for close range and for teal if they divin in the dekes....i hunt primarily open water so i don't get many shots within 30 yrds of big ducks....the rem and estates are a lil more expensive but you shoot way less shells! i usually put the xperts for my first and/or 2nd shots and follow with the remys or estates.

I had a bunch of old shells and went and shot them at a target the other day....I shot all shells at 33 yards, 100 feet. I shot Kent 3 1/2" #4's and Kent 3 1/2" # 1's, both fast steel 1 9/16 oz. I believe. I shot Winchester Super X Drylok 3 1/2" #2's and 3's 1 9/16oz. shot. If I get motivated I might post the pictures, but here is the gist.

Kent #1's.....about 75 pellets on target...Big gaps in the placement on target, not good.

Kent #4's.....about 120 pellets on target...decent spread, not many huge gaps.

Winchester #2's......about 110 pellets on target.....excellent distribution, no gaps.

Winchester #3's......about 100 pellets on target.....good distribution.

The clear choice for my gun was the Winchester Super X Dryloks #2's.....They got 10 less pellets on target than Kent #4's and 10 more pellets on target than Winchester #3's. The results don't sound logical I know, but gun placement, target placement were the same in every instance. The results confirm what I was thinking too, I seem to shoot a whole lot better with Winchester Super X #2's.

It dosent matter what kind of shell you shoot as long as you can hit what your shooting at. I do shoot kent fasteel though because of the fack that it shoots cleaner. I did shoot blackcloud but it scars the barrel so i dont anymore.

Chris-the #2 gave you about 78% pellet count on target and rest were between 60-65%. Good information about how different loads pattern. Good luck this season.

I mix up my shot, most of the time Ill load in 2 xpert 3" for my first too shots then a nitro steel 3 1/2" for my third. Most people that see me do that laugh but it has worked good for me and its one way to keep from shooting too many of the high $ shells.

I've been using Kent the last two seasons. I'm thinking about buying the equipment to load my own shells this year. I will take a few seasons to recover my expenses, but it will be less than $10 to make a box using tungsten. Might also experiment with Bismouth. Anybody else load their own shells?

Also it doesn't matter what you shoot if you don't lead the birds. Nine out of ten times you miss a bird its because you shot behind them. I had that problem a while back and corrected that at the range.

I thought it was shells doing this to me also. Shells were swelling in my chamber and would not eject... cheap winchester silver brass shells from Wal-Mart and some of the steel shot Kent's. I tried this I took 0000 gauge steel wool and wrapped it around the wire brush in my cleaning kit stuck it on a cleaning rod. Stuck it in a drill lubed up the steel wool with some Rem Oil and polished my chamber up. It seemed that my chamber was a little tighter than it should of been. A gunsmith told me to give that a try. It seems the Remington 870 express super mag's are just not being produced with the Quality Control as they used to be. I can now shoot any brand or size of shell without any problems. I had the gunsmith gauge my chamber its right on the money ! Just my experience ...

Barret i have the same problem with my 870 super mag....those cheap winchester dove loads will jam everytime...i dont have much problem with remington shells...it rarely jams with steel shot or high brass but it does every now and then...i'm gonna have to give it a try....its a great shooting gun for the price but it pisses me off when i cant get a 2nd shot off when i need it!

whatever i can get my hands on, never had a problem with any shells, jamming or mis shaped pellets, but personally i like the remington nitros. dosnt matter what i shoot as long as i hitem.

I have a 11-87 remington and it wont jam if you keep it oiled and clean. But you have to clean it about every few times you use it bc it gets dirty very quick. However its really easy to clean and only takes a few minutes.

I have a wingmaster doin the same thing..jamming after shots are fired...You can sit all day ejecting dry shots... but shoot a shell and guaranteed to jam... very frustrating.I bought a Remington 1100 G3 2 seasons ago, This a Suh- Weet Gun.. I ran some Black Cloud thru it the first season i got it... The dirtiest shell i ever shot...so much powder blow back in ma face i have ever experienced,,, rediculous... simply refuse to shoot that again...exspensive for nothing...Im shooting regular remington or federal shells for 10 bucks now... no prob... 23 dolars a box v/s 10 dollars a box.. no comparison... Obviously a scam.... The proof is in the pattern any how...

I shot the experts never had anyproblems they shot good and there cheap i shot the kents last year. I couldnt seem to hit them or put them down. So this year i shot the kents xperts, nitro mag, and blackcloud and xperts was hands down the best pattern for my gun i think i think it really depends on what your shooting i shoot an 870 and spr 453 the xperts are way cheaper and i hunt in the marsh so the rust up after a little and if you have to throw them away your not losing to much

i shoot whichever i can afford. i find that both work equally well. use the winchesters in the swamp for woodies and it does pretty well. shoot kents at teal and they did good, and using them for big ducks this season.
