Rut?

Reply
I quit deer hunting years ago to concentrate on ducks. Now my 13 year old has decided he would like to deer hunt. I have found some rubs on my brothers land that look to be about a week or so old by the curling of the bark. My question is ...does anyone on here know about when the rut takes place in the Rapides parish area. Thanks to all.

It is suposed to be right around now, I have not seen many scrapes, or rut activity it almost seems to be that it will be a week later than what the books say. That is just my opinion though. I also hunt in Rapides

Not sure what area you are hunting, but I look for my best hunts to be between now and Thanksgiving weeked. I'm hunting around the Lone Pine/Cheneyville area.

I am hunting a farm just south of alex and was wondering the same thing. It is in area6 the ldwf rut calender says late dec but I am seeing alot of rubs and a few small scrapes. The scrapes looked to be a few days old. I had a pic on my camera of a 6 pt and what looked to be a doe at 9am on Friday.

The website shows the scraping to be done a couple of weeks before they go into rut so maybe it's on the way. My son hunted sat all day but did not see anything. Going to slip in there today and put up the camera because i have to leave for off shore tommorrow and he wont get to hunt till I come back.
