Joyce WMA or Manchac WMA.... Anybody ever deer hunted them? Ever seen any deer?

I hunted Joyce in the early 90's. I killed a 10 point out there in 1991 and saw a list that the wild life agent had of the deer that were killed and it was filled with bucks. I was inpressed by the number of bucks that were killed that year. Its hard hunting but if you want it bad enough go for it. I rather hunt a little easier as I get older. Good luck.

what do you mean hard hunting out there.. i heard alot of it requires a boat ?

pretty much all of it requires a boat, more specifically a go-devil, hard hunting means, hipboots or waders, walking through mud and water up to your waste the whole time. Then if you do kill a deer, having to drag it 200, 300, or 500 yards through that chit, oh along with all of your gear. As hard as it is to hunt a swamp WMA, the state should pay you to hunt it, not the other way around. Good Luck, oh to answer your question, there are a few good deer out there but very rarely do you hear of anyone killing any. But if you do go and go through all of this and kill a buck or a doe for that matter, it will be well worth it. I would rather kill a doe in the swamp than a 12 point on high ground anyday! But thats just me.

I have never hunted Joyce but did see deer out that in the night time when I was scouting for places to hunt alligators.

I've never deer hunted Manchac but I duck hunt there often. I've found VERY big deer tracks out there while scouting. Usually see them at the end of Galva canal and to the west towards I-55
