35 Whelen Problems?

Reply
Anyone having any problems with the 35 whelen's? Purchased two Optima Elites and neither one fires. One fired once, then will not even mark the primer and the other hits primer hard enough to make a good mark but will not fire. I've tried Hornady and Remmington rounds with the same results. I've been told by a sporting goods store that all manufactures are having the same problem with the 35 whelen. They will let me return but I afraid to try another make with what I have been told. I contacted CVA, they say problems are with the ammo, Ammo companies say rifle malfunction.

A friend of mine has a 35 whelen in the T/C pro hunter. He had the same problem. Took it back to where he bought it from, and they said that it needed a stronger spring for the firing pin. They changed it out, and had no more problems. Hope this helps.

My dad had the same problem with his CVA yesterday. He called the place he bought it and turned out he was the second person to have it snap on a deer yesterday. Something is going on.

Going to return the 2 Optima Elites tomorrow. Going with T/C Encore that has new springs installed and is supposed to fix problem. Will report back Sunday after I put 40 rounds down the barrel. CVA knows they have a spring issue too. T/C just faster to address the problem. Sporting Goods store I purchased from has been great help.
