Hog Gooru's

Reply
Ok Im going to the camp for a week starting monday. I really want to pursue some hogs while I'm up there. Whats the best bait. I have heard tons of things; corn w/ milk, corn w/ diesel, corn, etc. I've tried all the above and really seen no significant results. The latest trend I heard was strawberry jello. anyone else heard of this. I heard from a farmer that its like crack. What works best?

Last year I tried corn with beer. Put it in a gallon jug, fill with beer and let it get sour. The corn will swell so dont fill the jug all the way with corn. I put that fowl smelling sour corn out before I took the stand one evening and guess what came and ate the whole pile, a nice 6 pt. We were not shooting deer last year so I just watched. The hogs did eat the other corn/beer mixtures, just not while I was hunting them. Also tried the jello. Same results, they tore a hole in the groung but never did see them come to it. I have always had the best results hunting a feeder that throws out corn 90 min. before dark. They will come in before dark to try to be the first to the corn. Good Luck, lets us know how your hunt turns out.

Jello is good. Fish heads are great too or rotten vegetables. Stop at a fish market and ask em for some trimmings or guts. Whatever fish parts they throw away, use it. Corn and diesel works for me but dont put it where you plabn to make a food plot anytime in the future. I tried that 5 years ago and ended up building a food plot there the next year end every year since and the dang things root in that same sopt (middle of my plot) every year. Crabs are good too. As is soured corn.

Anything that makes you make a grimace when you whiff it is good. The uglier the face the better!!!
