Reply
Cant decide what to get let me know yalls idea on which to get. Whatever it is needs to be in Max 4 HD. I would prefer either the vinci or extrema but II let me know what you think is the best gun for duck hunting south LA. Also where to purchase it. I live in Thibodaux. Thanks in advance

I cant speak for the vinci,(hate way it looks) but I do have a benelli SBE II and have shot an extrema as well. You cant go wrong with either one. They are both top market guns (both owned by same company btw) so get which ever one fits you best. I went with the SBE II and have no regrets, It fit me better shoots everything and is rediculously easy to break down and clean in the field if I need to. I've shot every kind load from dove to 3 1/2's and had no problems. Later this year baretta will have a new gun out that is an upgrade from extrema, Ive had a chance to handle it and it is way better than current extrema but wont be out in a camo pattern till next year according to baretta rep.

Try them both. Thats what I did and I settled on the Benelli SBE 11 but thats just because it felt better to me. Its not a complaint about the Beretta.

Wanta really nice gun, get a benilli M-2 with the comfort tech system, same as a SBE II yet doesn't shoot 3 1/2 shells, and about 3 to 4 hundred less than the SBS II or the VINCI

I do not understand this craze that some have about spending $1000 or more on a duck or goose blind gun!!! I have been shooting a 1994 BPS and you know how many times it has jammed or malfunctioned in the blind? NONE!!! You know what the gun cost? About $500 dollars. Some folks need to stop watching those hunting shows and listening to them
rave about their free guns from the sponsors.

leadhead you do have a point, you can definitely get away with much cheaper no doubt. but until you use the extrema 2 you wouldnt appreciate it. I mean you can hunt saltwater conditions with that gun and have it get rained on every hunt and throw it in the case without touching it for weeks and when you pull it out its gonna look and perform like the day you bought it. You wont find a speck of rust or anything. not to mention the smoothness of the shots. Its just nice. I can fire 3 1/2s out of my gun holding it with one hand. Thats how little recoil it has

Just got an Extrema 2 last night at Lafayette Shooters. I paid 1100 before tax without the kickoff system. I got the papers and sending in for the free kickoff which I am told will take 6-8 weeks to get...oh well....wife won't let me have it until after Xmas anyway...wont argue...at least I got one!

Promotion for the free kickoff lasts until Dec 31st

Good Luck!

Got this email from Benelli on Monday.

Seems they have something new coming out...

WORLD’S LIGHTEST SHOTGUN—AND SHE’S COMING JANUARY 19, 2010

Sleek. Beautiful. Italian. She’s the lightest auto-loading shotgun in the world. And she’s coming January 19, 2010. On that day, the launch of Benelli’s newest shotgun will be revealed at the SHOT Show and simultaneously unveiled on the Benelli USA website.

“At just under 5 pounds, this is lightest shotgun on the market, chambered in a gauge that many skilled hunters and sportsmen will find not only a delight to handle, but wonderful to shoot.” said Stephen McKelvain, Benelli USA's VP of Marketing & Communications. “Benelli combined striking gun art with reliable function, the hallmark of all our products.”

FWIW, I am with leadhead. I have been shooting a $350 Benelli Nova pump for 5 or 6 years and have never had the first problem with it. I have an autoloader, but I still reach for that Nova every weekend during duck season.

I don't think the vinci shoots 3 1/2's. I have 2 beretta shotguns and love them both.

Get the Beretta Xtrema- I've got the Xtrema I 3 1/2" in Max4 camo w/o the kickoff system which isn't really needed anyway. They come with the Optima Plus barrel that's backbored back to the forcing cone in the chamber giving a wider path for the shot column to get out, plus its gas operated for less recoil. The Benelli's are inertia operated and kick like mules. The only other shotgun I use for waterfowl is a Browning Gold 3 1/2" in Shadowgrass. They don't make them anymore.
