just saw this poor bunch of deer on dave donaldson wma in arkansas--this was posted on the ark. wildlife and fisheries site--hm --i wander if la. can come up with this type of post from the wmas--is this what happens with a statewide 6pt rule?????click on pic for larger view-now you guys need to remember this is a WMA not a private piece of property--what you guys think the one on the for left will score????with the distance involved i would guess 160---oh by the way in most la. wmas you would not see the foodplot--to much trouble and maybe one of the higher ups would have to eat a hamburger on his expense sheet once in a while--man i just love does guys-maybe we can send the biologist that runs Bodcau wma in nw la. so he can fix the ark. wma by having 22 doe days on a public wma--he can correct me by having a pic of his deer like these from bodcau--i would say uncle for sure--

That is amazing po. Thanks for posting....But nah...not a product of statewide antler regulations.....didn't you hear? LDWF said that they don't work....we have to go to buck limits. We would produce "inferior" deer. Looks like alot of them in that picture you posted are inferior...see the one in the middle...that poor sucker must only have a 16 inch spread....

That's the problem with LA gentlemen...too much testosterone. If the Department doesn't come up with the idea, it CAN'T work. They are the only ones with any brains, and "knowledge". The rest of the states are stupid for doing this....did I mention that sice Arkansas implemented this that their out of state hunter numbers have risen by over 250%????????????????????????? Their in state have risen as well....Make you wonder why LA is just about the ONLY state that has declining hunter numbers?

chad--if miss. would not have gone up on lic. fees--there would be even less hunters in la.--the educated fools in la. even have the life time lic. so low to be greedy and get up front money that eventually their will be no lic. money coming in--maybe this will fix the system where it will go bankrupt and have to start over--wishful thinking on my part--all you have to do is go the ark. website and see how much difference in the sites--i can surf for hrs. on theirs--ldwf cut off the hunters input site because they could not take the heat---sad situation--kind of like getting stuck with a bit-- of a wife--had a friend always talking about how --tchy his wife was--i asked him why don"t you get rid of her --his reply was he could not think of anybody esle he hated that much to pawn her off on--hehehehe

Po, it should be mentioned that Dave Donaldson WMA, is open only to archery and a special muzzleloader hunt. It is primarily managed for duck hunting, and while the area has some good bucks, hunter success is not very good..hence the shots of the good bucks congregated in a soybean field. Too, the Ark deer limit is 2 bucks, one doe, last I heard.I have a place in Union County,Ark, and can tell you that the area is over-run with does,(you can only take one) very few good bucks, and the locals are thrilled to get a knotty-racked 8 point. Arkansas is no better than Louisiana on it's deer management, and I would have to say not as good..Arkansans also gripe about their game and fish commission..both states have areas with big bucks, and areas with very few big bucks. As a Louisiana resident, I would surely hate to see us adopt a management "stragegy" like Arkansas. Most people in Ark. envy La. hunting, but don't have the access to the private property to hunt. Although possibly hard to believe,it may be that Arkansas is more eager to show off their deer than their La. I wouldn't swap our La. hunting, or our Wildlife and Fisheries for anything in Arkansas. LOUISIANA.is a true SPORTSMAN'S PARADISE! I think we just want TOO much. Also, what's wrong with actually eating venison? If we hunt just to brag,or show off a rack, then are we really hunters,or just egotists?

The site sure has some nice animals that were taken. Personally I would like to see a tag system for La. with an antler restriction with a 2 buck limit. I have deer that come into the pasture in back of my house and have only seen 3 bucks in the 11 years I have lived here.

Po, I don't lease any hunting land in Ark. My hunting is all in La, on a club we have had leased for 32 years, plus some privately owned property. My domicile is in La.We have a house and small acreage in Ark, that we bought because wife transferred to El Dorado when State Farm closed their Monroe office,as an alternative to going to Tulsa,Ok, or Columbia,Mo. My comments were based on what my deer hunting neigbors here say, and my observation of deer here as compared to what we have in La. Now, that isn't scientific, but neither is a photo of a group of bucks on a tightly controlled, limited access WMA.Surely, I have a prejudice toward La...but I don't see anything wrong with that. Have a good one. Sledge

i posted the deer pic. from ark. because i have hunted the la. wma system for the last 30 yrs--around 10 different ones--i do not hunt leased property or private property--all wmas are controlled by the state--we even have the same kind in la. that are archery and muzzler loader only--but i have never seen anything close to whats in that pic. --i did not make the pic up its in color for all to see--i am not naive enough to believe that the whole state of ark. is loaded up with deer of this kind but i like the system they have in ark. different deer quota kills for different zones of the state--the bunch from la. think that the whole state is the same from one end to other which is stupid--now i would like to hunt with you a few times if your deer herd is anything like whats in the photo--i would think on private land and leases you could control it to achieve the same deer quality--thanks
