did anyone have luck this year at attackapas wma.i hunted a half of dozen times in proven spots in the past but havent seen the first deer..

I have been a few times this year with no luck. My person opinion is that they do not have the deer that they had 3 or 4 years ago. It looks like the season long doe days and the dog hunters are starting to take their toll on the basin deer hunting. I hope the ldwf wakes up and gets rid of the dogs and the season long doe day.

What can be the reason? Could it be the "STILL HUNTERS" harvesting, taking, shooting, killing, or whatever word you want to use be the reason for the depletion of the herds??????????

The problem is the high water. The water has been very high since October. Plenty deer moved on. There are some folks enjoying the best season they've seen in years because the deer the normally stay in the basin have hauled it out of there and settled in areas that they would not usually be in.

It's the water, sillys.

Them Basin Deer aren't your every day deer. And the Basin has never been chock-a-block full of deer to begin with.
They are moving with the water. We will never ever be able to pattern those deer due to the water.
90% of the deer are IN that water. And they aren't afraid to go deep. You have to get out of the stand to find'em. If there was ever a perfect place for stalking, the Basin is it.
We have proven hot spots as well, but the pressure in those areas this year is greater, so I expect the worse in those spots. They don't stay secret for long, especially on
public land.

i also hunt on attakapas, and haven't seen as many deer this year, and have seen plenty of people, also found 3 empty bags of corn, granted it is illegal to use bait on a wma, but atleast the darn outlaw could pick up his trash(i think i know who it is but have no proof i would love to catch them in the act), the deer will not come around if the humans keep leaving things behind with their scent on them, all sorts of trash in the woods empty coke bottles, thermacell trash, just can't understand why grown people can't clean up after themselves, i would imagine that is the reason it is so hard to get in a good lease
