Black Coyote

Well after catching the red fox the other day I was pretty excited to say the least. That is until today when I found this black yote in the same trap set that I caught the fox in.

I would have left that stinky thing in the woods. I killed one once and drug him out the woods to the roadside and left him the buzzards would not even eat that thing..

just a question for you, i saw in your other post that you shot that fox, (no difference to me i.d.c.) but i was told they are protected and illegal to shoot, am i mis informed or is there an exception for nuisance foxes? i saw one on attakapas that had a black body, red face and tail

dont think so
a trapping license should give you the rights to foxes for sure and I doubt they would expect you to handle a live wild fox

found it
on page 17 of the online book it says foxes can be taken only by licensed trappers during the trapping season

There's no way I was leaving her for the buzzards. She's going to be mounted for my showroom. And yes I have my trapping license. If you looked at the fox pic you would have seen that it was still in the trap. I do not support illegal activities in any way shape or form. My number is 504-259-6988.

I knew you had your license I wasn't insinuating that, I was reading the rule to the other guy that said it was illegal for you to shoot it.

Man thats pretty cool are those very rare, or is that something that is somewhat common.

Black yotes.
It's more common in the southeast than it is anywhere else in the country. But it's still a pretty rare trait. They say the reason coyotes have different color variations is because when the coyotes began their cross-country sprawl they cross bred with gray wolves, thus yielding black coyotes. Not sure how accurate this is, but it kinda makes sense.
