Albino Blue Wing Teal

Reply
A buddy of mine who guides for gueydan hunting club killed this duck this morning. He is officially the luckiest person i ever met. Any questions? Just ask. He said that he doesnt mind telling people his name or where he killed it. And trust me, he loves telling this story.

Absolutely a trophy kill. I have mounted two of these white teal in the past ten years or so. Both were blue wing. The birds are not true albino because the eye's were not pink. Seems to be some sort of color pigment issue. Congratulations!

Swamp you are correct. The term is "Leucistic" which is a lack of pigmentation. These birds differ from albino's in the fact that they do not have pink eyes. In 2009 my dad killed a Leucistic Mallard drake. He had it mounted - absolutely beautiful, and they are pretty rare.

Congrats on your friends harvest..Uncle Bud.

That is a nice bird for sure. A buddy of mine has a leucistic greenwing teal mounted.

I killed a leucistic mallard hen the last weekend of the year last year. Like an idiot, I plucked her.

thanks for the info guys, i didnt knnow that, i knew that a true albino had the pink eyes but i havent seen the duck in person yet, and it will be getting mounted and it will be displayed at the gueydan hunting club, the guys name is greg hebert, and personal i beleive he is one of the best guides in the state, and with out a doubt one of the luckiest, when the bird is done being mounted i will post a better pic of it, good luck to all and thanks again for that info
