Does anyone know where around the Baton Rouge area I can buy a net for frogging?
We normally use our hands but occasionally a frog will be in an area where we cannot reach it. I do not like to use a gig and we have tried one of those spring-activated grabbers such as the ones at Academy Sports but find they do not work that well. We usually miss more than we catch with the grabber.
I'm not talking about some kind of fishing net. Back in the day when gigs or things that pierced the skin were illegal, there was a net made specifically for catching frogs. It was about maybe 8-10 inches in diameter and a foot and a half to two feet long on a long pole. I think it kind of looked like a witches hat with it tapering to a cone at the end. Some of you old timers may know what I mean.
I've searched the internet and some stores in the Baton Rouge area but haven't found what I am looking for yet. Just thought I would ask here to see if these nets still are being made.
Thanks!
